My feelings exactly. Just as I am trying to figure-out what mass my family will attend tomorrow, there is another assinine message from the Pope. Personally I don't think these messages come directly from him. I think that the group of euro-idiot-priests in the Vatican have formed a "think-tank" to come-up with most of the Pope's statements.

This is also a matter of history repeating itself. The Pope and the Church chose to ignore Hitler and his minions, even as Catholics were being slaughtered.

I think he's doing what he believes is right. "Do unto others" and such.

I am a Christian, and I refuse to buy in because I would argue the opposite.

"Do unto others" can quickly become "Pearls to pigs" if one is not careful.

In this scenario, the "pigs" do not appreciate the "pearls" then turn and tear the giver to pieces.

Well considering the fact that the catholic church had no problem fighting the muzslimes during the crusades, one would think the pope could see that fighting is the only way we can deal with the same killers as before. I would think he would not only support AMerica, but offer his help too. When one realizes that the world and it's safety are at stake here. I agree that praying is good of course, but for every thing there is a season, and it is not the season for allowing muzslimes to keep on killing innocents.

First of all our president is doing a great job protecting. I wonder how many of those innocent people who died on 9-11 had not been saved yet and their time was cut short. They deserved a chance to know the Lord as any of us do. Has the pope thought about that.

The pope is "one righteous dude", to quote radio host Brian Wilson.

He has an opinion like everyone else and has the right to express it.

As far as church teaching goes, he is considered infallible on matters of faith, I.E. when he says that your sins are forgiven, they are.

When he says to fast to remember the suffering in Iraq, and you disagree, great. Fantastic. That ain't part of the faith and he can be wrong.

We don't need a new and improved Catholic Church...Actually we need the old one back!

well he can do what he thinks is right, providing his age has not incapacitated him from thinking at all. America is doing what she thinks is right. Since the pope is not the president, I think I will let GW take care of it. God will ultimitly decide it all in the end anyway.

The pope is a wonderful man....

1) OK. This has nothing to do with whether he's right or not.
2) I question how much he really knows about what's going on in the world at this point in his life. And I question how many of these statements are actually made by the pope, and how many statements are made by his "Sec'y of State" and those controlling him.

...and he is doing what he believes is right.

The road to Hell is paved with good intentions, even for popes. His beliefs--unclouded by any rational thought--should be of no interest to anyone, not even members of the Church of Rome. He's not speaking Ex Cathedra, after all.

The implication in your post is despicable. And, it is wrong: American politicians, war planners, and soldiers are going to sacrifice a considerable amount of treasure and a significant number of American lives in order to guarantee that we not God separate the bad people in Iraq from the good ones.

In contradistinction to this oh-so-moral leader, Americans are willing to put their lives on the line in order to rid the world of this evil, and to liberate people denied the rights granted them implicit in their humanity as a gift from God.

Luckily, Americans are neither as cloudy about their moral obligations, nor as impotent in their exercise as the people writing speeches for the pope.
