Director hits out at Bush, thanks France
PARIS: Michael Moore's controversial documentary Bowling for Columbine won the best foreign film category at France's Cesars movie awards, and the US film-maker used the occasion to deliver a scathing attack on US policy toward Iraq.
Thank you (France) for having the courage to stand up and say no to US threats to attack Iraq, Moore said to cheers from the audience.
One of the best definitions of an ally, of a friend, is that your friend is the one who can tell you when you're wrong, he said.
So thank you for showing us the way, for standing up and for something very important ... I want to let you know that there are tens of millions of Americans who feel the same way.
France's President Jacques Chirac is one of the most vocal opponents to US and British preparations for war against Iraq.
In his speech, Moore went on to lash out at US President George W. Bush.
The majority of us Americans never elected George W. Bush, he said.
We've been surviving a coup now for the past couple of years and because of that we don't support coups instigated by us in other countries, the director said. AFP

I saw a video clip; he looked like a compost heap in a tuxedo. Although I sometimes exaggerate, this is an understatement!

Michael Moore is an aging boy who makes his living selling suspicion and hatred. Truly pitiful.
To: jedi150
Maybe the French can keep him.....since he likes Jacques Chiraq better than Bush

The majority of Americans never voted for his hero, Bill Clinton, either, but why nit-pick.

"We've been surviving a coup now for the past couple of years and because of that we don't support coups instigated by us in other countries," the director said. So, there it is, folks...in black and white. Michael Moore opposes a "coup" in Iraq. In other words, like most of these commie "peace" protesters (not the people with a legitimate argument, mind you), HE SUPPORTS SADDAM!
The loony left, in fact, supports Saddam, because he is a socialist, and because he is anti-Western. Most of them have enough sense not to state it openly, unlike this goon.
