Yeah but there were big gaps in their coverage of Joe Millionaire. Basically they found no dirt inbetween when they broke the original lie (remember the first ads just said there was a lie, not that Joe wasn't a millionaire) and Sarah's bondage thing (Heidi's boyfriend was "broken" by the other girls). If the press had been doing their job there'd have been a dirty story every week.

Junkyard Wars admitted long ago that they seed the junkyard (they also de-seed so the contestants will have to fabricate or juryrig something) and that they play a little loose with the 10 hours. It's been very well documented that Trading Spaces has helpers never on camera. The last 5 minutes of Monster Garage is always staged (and kind of hokey, I wish they'd drop it, it's cool to see the thing in action but the "competition" is stupid).

Man, you just broke my heart and crushed my hopes and dreams. Life will never be the same again.

Didn't Heidi-Ho admit that she had a boyfriend to the other girls and they almost kicked her out of the game?

Yeah, that broke after the first Survivor, and how many have they had since then? Still getting good ratings I understand (Survivor never tripped my switch, I know that sounds wierd since it's the most popular show of the genre and it's arguably my favorite TV genre, but really I find the show kind of weak). More evidence that even after "the con" is exposed nobody cares.

Nude modeling? Not according to the rest of the article...

"The photographer who shoots for Powerco said Andrich was in the calendar twice and neither time did she appear risqué.

"She’s totally covered," Boz Swope said of Andrich’s pictures, expressing outrage at the Enquirer’s reporting which she described as untrue.

"She was a nice girl," said Swope, who explained that Andrich was accompanied by a friend during her photo shoots.

Swope, who lives in New York City, was inundated with media calls yesterday requesting copies of Andrich’s sexy snapshots, but the photographer said she cannot release them yet. She said she is currently being paid not to print the photos by a magazine that she refused to name.

But, Swope added she probably would distribute the pictures once her contract with the magazine is up.

Friends of Andrich had mixed reactions when asked about the calendar yesterday.

Marcy Willard, Andrich’s best friend from high school who now lives in California, declined to comment about the dark-haired beauty’s modeling past.

But Andrich’s pal Kelly Naylor, who lives in Stockton, said she is certain her friend would not do anything lewd.

"She’s not innocent, she definitely knows what’s going on," Naylor said yesterday. "But she’s very modest, she doesn’t like to show off her body, at least not to that extent."

Naylor acknowledged Andrich, who was the maid of honor in her wedding, is a model and said she does what is requested for her jobs. But, she added, Andrich has clear limits.

"I know she’s not promiscuous, I know she’s not risqué," Naylor said. "If it was anything nudity-wise, I know that’s against her morals."

Naylor said Andrich was herself on "Joe Millionaire" and that she liked how her friend appeared on television.

"I think she came off looking wonderful," Naylor said. "She just has such grace and class. She didn’t talk about other people, that’s definitely very characteristic of her."

When asked where their friend was now, both Naylor and Willard would not say much.

Naylor said she knows Andrich is busy and that she is no longer in Lambertville. Willard confirmed Andrich was getting lots of attention from fans before she moved.

The last episode of "Joe Millionaire," when Andrich and Marriott were paired, was surprising to the winner’s friends, especially since Willard told The Trentonian a month ago that she did not think Andrich and Marriott were well suited for each other.

Neither woman would comment on whether the couple was still together, but both said they were happy for their friend.

"It definitely had a fairy tale ending," Willard said of the show. "I really didn’t see it coming out like that. I didn’t anticipate they were going to have a connection. When I watched the show I was very surprised to see that."

Part of the fairy tale, of course, was the $1 million gift Fox gave Andrich and Marriott. Willard said the money would definitely help her friend, and she added she has a newfound respect for Marriott after watching the last show.

"It made me think highly of Evan that he had such good taste," Willard said."

I'm not sure how they'll do it. I'd guess by incorporating they're own party and funding it fully on their own (there's no limit on how much the GOP can spend on their candidates). That's what lawyers are for, if there's a loophole their dudes will find it.

Disagree.....two things will happen, either one or both.....more likely, they'll get stale..due to overexposure....look what ABS did to "who wants to be a millionaire" they killed it....also, something really bad will happen, like someone will do a Richard Speck/Charles Manson bit while one of these shows is being filmed..

Boneheads watching it is a self-contradiction? Hmmm.

That was supposed to be a cute play on words, I do know the meaning of oxymoron... no really... seriously... I promise...

IMHO all TV is fictional, and as viewers we buy into a premise.

The people in the "reality" shows are still acting out a part either directly prescribed or covertly constructed by the producers/editors of the program. The fact that small time models, actors, and actresses are showing up on "reality" programs shouldn't surprise anyone. The "contestants" are picked by the program's producers for their ability to play a role, rather than act out a script. Public desire to see someone's presumed life laid bare on TV is all a matter personal preference, and a wish to buy into the presumed premise of the show.

I enjoy Junkyard Wars because I like the gut level engineering that goes on in the show. I also like Trading Spaces, but realize that the "designers" intentionally set out to do wild things to these peoples houses because of the reaction it draws from the "contestants", which is what makes the show. The "reality" is still carefully controlled.

How long it lasts is anybody's guess. Your probably right in that at some level reality TV is going to be a permanent fixture just like game shows, sit coms, and daytime dramas. As far as the "Survivor/Joe Millionaire/Who Wants to be Humiliated on National TV" genre, I'm not watching, because in truth it's no more "real" than NYPD Blue which I also don't watch.

"YAWWWNNNNN!! What else is new? These women who go on these show usually have something in their closets! Believe me they wouldn't be on these shows unless they needed attention pretty badly or are looking to get into showbiz. Why is this a surprise to the media?"

Bingo! You are right, areafiftyone!

There are lots of women in America who have the character this tart claims to have, but the fact that they have such character means they wouldn't dare go on such a show.

The type of the woman who would go on such a show is the type who will do anything for fame. In the old days, such a woman ran off to become a showgirl. Today, she poses nude. And, when such an act doesn't make her famous, she tries something else.

I guess what always amazes me most is that the woman tries to portray herself as virginal or innocent. She is usually 30 years old and dresses like Britney Spears, but still acts the part of the innocent girl next door. It just goes to show that deep in their hearts, most women know that the promiscuity that is so common in the 21st century does not really rest well in their souls.

One half of that has already happened on the 'Jenny Jones' show where a guest killed another guest after being revelealed as a Gay Crush.

I think it is a given they would have to fund a campiagn on their own.

But when you consider Dubya spend 241 million last time in 2000, I don't see anyone except Kerry matching that dough.
