The Boston chapter of the anti-war movement should lose a few members after this. Strange how none of the large pro-terrorism marches have taken place in New York City...

I'll wager that you're right. The target was the Capitol. Right out of Clancy's book.

I wouldn't let a person of Middle East decent work at Logan airport in a position that involved being near planes. Too bad Logan is run by some PC lefties. Kennedy & Kerry don't care, they fly private.

I'll wager that you're right. The target was the Capitol. Right out of Clancy's book. I have a feeling that normal flight paths are altered whenever such a large concentration of leaders assembles. I doubt you could get any kind of plane, of any size, within ten miles of the White House or Capitol building tonight. Maybe even twenty. I'm sure someone here knows the exact protocol used in these situations.

I would ground air traffic out of the D.C. area if it were me and make sure that D.C. was ringed by fighters. But then I am getting paranoid after seeing this!

If a hijacked flight was approaching Reagan Airport for a landing and aimed for the Capitol at the last minute, it might be too late for an interception. SAM's might deflect it away from the target, but maybe they wouldn't.
Somebody has been reading Tom Clancy, and it's not one of the good guys.

Well then, we have to face the terrifying possibility that this was an in-flight meal knife that fell under the seat a long time ago.

Me either! The timing of this really bothers me. I know one thing -- if I were booked on that United flight there would be no way I would fly on it now. Everyone could say how safe it would be now, but it wouldn't make me any difference.

Daschle and Hillary would be the first to step over the older members and beat feet to the exit. And then they would call a press conference to denounce Bush. Seriously,I wonder if they will sequester more than just one Cabinet member this year.
To: PhiKapMom
They could be coming from anywhere, I thought the DC airspace was closed tonight and the jets were back up..

I would expect it to be closed. The reason for closing the three airports I mentioned was to preclude a plane coming in for a landing and at the last minute vearing off at a target in D.C. like the Capitol!
