IDIOT OF THE WEEK...(Clinton)
Iconoclast.ca ^ | 01-25-03 | Iconoclast

It appears that former U.S. presidents don't just leave office and fade away. Rather, they brood over their dwindling influence and compulsively seek public attention with ever more ridiculous public pronouncement and publicity stunts.

Enter America's biggest walking, talking political joke, William Jefferson Clinton. As popular Big Apple columnist Mugger recently opined:

Clinton is a national embarrassment, a bored and bitter politician whose weekly routine is a mixture of lucrative (and usually incoherent) speeches around the world, socializing with celebrities and criticizing Bush with an unprecedented zeal, demolishing the tradition of an ex-president keeping mum, at least for several years, about his successor. Even Jimmy Carter, who disgracefully accepted a Nobel Peace Prize that was awarded to him only as a rebuke to Bush, looks graceful in comparison. Witness Bill Clinton's recent ill-chosen remarks accusing the Republican Party of playing the "race card" in recent elections by pursuing a cynical Southern strategy of exploiting antipathy against minority members among white voters. Notwithstanding the sheer untruthfulness of Clinton's remarks, it's not as if Bill Clinton never played the race card himself in past elections, playing on the irrational fears of poor blacks by demonizing evil KKK stalwart Newt Gingrich as the Grinch who was going to eliminate Social Security and take away minority members' welfare checks.

In his recent column, Mugger predicted that Bill Clinton will disappear from the American political scene in 2003. Of course, this whimsical New Year's prediction is simply wishful thinking. The empty shell that is the real Bill Clinton would simply implode if he couldn't schmooze worshipful gatherings of gullible rich admirers around the world, or preen before the TV news cameras. The only way he's going to disappear from public life in 2003 is if he's thrown in the slammer for his many past crimes, as he well should be.

A jealous husband/boyfriend might make him disappear.

It seems as if bill clinton will be with us until his admirers in the media and rich liberals willing to pay him $100,000 a pop to schmooze with them grow old and pass on to their rewards.

Since roughly 33% of the American electorate twice revealed that they would vote for bill clinton no matter what, that may take a while.

Of course it's always possible his nose will fall off first.

This is the most accurate, succinct description of clinton and his activities that I've seen. I cannot understand why the liberal and conservative media continue to speculate on hillary, as though she has any kind of proven ability as a leader, as a potential president! It's akin to Hollywood hero-worship in my mind. Utterly baseless.

Pee Wee will never be held accountable by the Justice System. Nearly half the country lost their moral compasses a long time ago. Thanks to rapists and perverts and perjurers like Pee Wee and Hitlery even blackmail has become an acceptable practice...Slave Reparations, anyone?

The real danger is if Hillary runs successfully for President. That will reestabish the two of them as co-Presidents. I've mentioned this in other posts, but I've reregistered as a DEM so that I have a voice in the DEM primary. I'll probably vote for Sharpton just to shake things up a bit. I would encourage anyone else in New York State to do the same. Bush is a given as the Repub. candidate in 2004. I hope he thinks very clearly about his choice of VP because that will be the person best positioned for the Presidential nomination in 2008. I'd love to see GW and Rudy in 2004, then Rudy and Condi Rice in 2008. I think those are unbeatable packages. I like the current VP very much but, as a Presidential candidate in 2008, I don't think he has a chance. There are the issues of his health, his age and his ties to the oil industry that could destroy his chances. The Repubs. have to be smart in '04 and '08. They can't shoot themselves in the foot and paint themselves into every available corner of the given room as they did with Dole.

You know, Dave, that's the "New Politics" in operation now. I am going to re-reg as a Dem in my state too, then flip back or register independent. The Dems play this cynical game and after being one of Barry's Boys in '64, being drafted by Lyndon Johnson (D-TX) in '68, and enduring Clinton for eight long miserable years, I am just not into "playing fair" anymore.

Clinton is a national embarrassment,

Geez, that's an understatement. Having Clinton in the White House was like putting wax paper in the outhouse. Bill only made a mess.

I'd love to see GW and Rudy in 2004,

Oh,yeah. Bubba-2 and a VP to the left of Al Gore. Good choice! Why not vote communist and be done with it? Or a Bubbette! and Sharpton ticket?

then Rudy and Condi Rice in 2008.

There ya go! A "price" and a VP whose only qualifications are gender and race! Well, maybe sexual orientations too, since she seems to have never had a boyfriend. Presidential pandering! Wadda ticket!

I think those are unbeatable packages.

And I think that if that is the best we can do,there is no longer any point in pretending we are a free country.

Let's not umbrella ALL the former presidents.

>(.."and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one"..Luke: 22,36.)

----------------------------------------
Luke 22:38--

So they said, "Lord, look, here are two swords."
And He said to them, "It is enough."
----------------------------------------

Jesus needed swords
to make a point ten verses
later. It wasn't

heavenly sanction
for everyone to run out
and purchase weapons.

(I'm not saying don't
buy guns. But people should stop
waving this Scripture...)

No one plays fair but, least of, all the DEMS. I appreciate your choice to do the flip. I'll flip again, at some point, if there are several interesting Repubs. in some upcoming race. As I've posted before, I would love it if New York State had open primaries so we could all have a voice with all of the parties.

I gather, from your response, that you don't care for GW. I'm not a total supporter of him. He has his warts but will be the candidate for the Repubs in '04. I don't think you understand Rudy. He did a fine job in running this city, in this man's opinion. Also, Condi is not just about race and gender. She's a very bright and knowledgable lady, particularly in foreign policy.

To be honest with you, I like Harry Browne but he's not electable. I think we all tend to vote for the lesser of many evils. I've voted against Gore, Clinton, et. al.

I think Clinton got a good long look at the writing on the wall on his trip back from Australia just after 9.11 and he has been in panic mode ever since.

The real danger is if Hillary runs successfully for President.

Not to diminish the dangers of TOWWTBO (The One Who Wants to Be Obeyed), but don't put too much stock in the recent Democrat polling numbers. Dems are notoriously ill-informed. Most of those polled didn't even know who John Edwards was.

It was a name recognition poll only. If Barbra Streisand was one of the choices, she would have beat Lieberman by double-digits, too.

The amount of vote-fraud that TSWIA (Smartest Woman in America) would require to win the White House would ignite a civil war before they could finish counting the votes.

It cannot happen. Hillary cannot win. Ever.
