YONKERS, N.Y. (AP) _ A female fetus, apparently stillborn, was found amid sewage at a wastewater treatment plant, police said. It was the second such discovery at the North Yonkers Pump Plant in two years. An aborted male fetus was found in February 2001.

An employee found the 12-inch fetus, its umbilical cord attached, while cleaning equipment Sunday night, police said. They are investigating how it got there and who is responsible. The Westchester County medical examiner's office listed the cause of death as stillbirth, pending further investigation.

Last year, fetuses were found at wastewater plants in Pennsylvania, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and Georgia.

My daughter and son-in-law are among those childless couples who would adopt any healthy baby, and have been on "the list" for nearly a year. We are truely an uncaring society when this sort of thing goes on. My daughter is always saying that she is tempted to hang around outside an abortuary, trying to talk the women about to go in to not have the abortion by offering to pay for the baby to be born and given to her.

Renee: I really feel for you daughter. It must be an unbearable pain to watch women go in to destroy a baby. She has been waiting for a year?! I thought they did things faster than that! No wonder why people go abroad to adopt. Now I hear it's getting just as bad abroad though. That's horrible! At least she is on the list. My mother was knocked off the list once the county welfare office found out she was cross culturally married.

Do you realize that they (abortion industry) make more money grinding babies to bits than giving them up for adoption? That takes away their whole industry.

I think this is a very real probability given the level of ignorance in society and the emotional and physical shock of miscarriage. No one speaks of(never mind teaches) proper behavior under such circumstances, and the unraveling of social fabric means even women who have had "education" don't react as civilized women.

It seems to be more difficult to adopt a child if you look "white" (whatever that is!), because most babies up for adoption look like minority children. The PC correct agencies have this obsession with matching a "black" baby to "black" parents "Hispanic" baby to "Hispanic" parents, etc. My daughter looks lily white, blonde hair, blue eyes and all, but I am Hispanic, making her 1/2, and that is her argument for wanting an ethnically mixed child, like herself (or me). She finally went to Catholic Family Services, where they don't care if the child and parents have the same color of skin or features. One year on a list is a relatively short time, actually. We hope it will not be too much longer, or she and her husband will likely look into overseas adoption, as have so many others.

I would encourage your daughter to do just that (though not buy the baby!) I would encourage her to bring one of those lost women home or to a maternity home and if they are able, help financially with medical expenses and possibly education expenses. But she needs a good and caring lawyer to draw up a contract.

I thank God daily for my fertility and my children. I can not imagine the pain your daughter must be going through wanting a child and then watching so many women conceive and kill their own children. Consider that God may in fact be talking to her to go to a clinic and help a woman -- she would in fact be saving two souls, the mother who would have aborted, and the child.

I have friends who have four children and the wife can't have anymore, but they want to open their home to additional kids. They said it's easier to adopt a sibling group than an infant. That might be an option.
