SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - New York Giants tight end Jeremy Shockey threw a cup of ice water over his head and splashed a child in the first quarter of the NFC playoffs against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. The emotional Shockey, who often alienates opposing fans and players by his demonstrative nature, was being heckled by fans at the time. Giants spokesman Pat Hanlon said no one was hurt, and the rookie tight end was not restrained by security.
It happened shortly after Shockey thought linebacker Julian Peterson had held him on an incomplete third-down pass.
"I think it was an act of frustration," Hanlon said.
The boy was given a football by the Giants.

BUT this is WAY TOO STUPID.

Shokey is pretty impressive. I like his spirit. I just hope he leaves all that on the field and has a long and marvelous career.

Miami punk. I wonder if he regrets dropping that touchdown pass late in the 3rd quarter? Surely, it wouldn't matter....oh wait it did. You have to wonder if he'll grow up and act more professionally in line with his talent. Michael Irvin never did. I'm glad he and the Giants lost.

I like him as a player but if he keeps acting like he cured cancer every time he catches a four yard pass someone is eventually going to take a cheap shot at him and cause him to miss some time.

Good Lord, he splashed "a child" in the face with water. "Oh the humanities." Are we really to the place where this is news? I doubt he intentionally targeted the child. I've seen some of those crowds and the little darling's dad might just have been a loud fowl-mouthed jerk. While I'm not thrilled the child got wet, this is nothing about nothing.

He "splashed a child". So what? I mean seriously, what the heck are we coming to when a little water comes in contact with a child, and it becomes a reportable story. This is shere lunacy, and anyone that would jump to conclusions to damn this player is on very shakey ground.

Probably. And he'll be able to handle the situation, I'd guess. Where did he go to school?

He also flipped off a 49'er on the field after he failed to make a catch. I'm sure the announcers saw it, but they didn't dwell on it. The guy's a loose cannon, and will be more trouble for the Giants then he's worth. I'm almost certain that the lack of discipline the Giants showed at the end of the game can be traced back to what the management lets Shockey get away with. He's a complete prima donna.

There is no premium on being a 'grown-up' whilst playing a kids game, so why would anyone want to do it? Pull your finger out of your butt and maybe you will live longer.

"Where have you gone Mark Bavarro????"

That guy Shockey needs a good talking to from the likes of Parcells, Vermeil, or God.

What a classless thug who can't skip the steroids in his morning juice. He will bring nothing but bad fortune to those around him in the long-run. He belongs in Irving Texas.

And just what the hell was Parcells thinking when he decided to coach for Jerry Jones and his band of thieves, rapists, drug dealers, daddy in every town, gun through airport, gang bangers anyhoooo?

Correct. Who would expect anything less from a University of Miami football player. I am glad Giants blew it. They are complete a**holes from what we saw yesterday. Go Niners

Look for him to be in several off season brawls involving alchohol, cars, and an endless supply of white middle class males who feel it's their duty to kick his ass or die trying.

As for his schooling, I would guess it involved nothing more academic than a sandbox.

It was San Francisco for heaven's sake. If the worse thing a child is exposed to is a little splash of water, consider him/her lucky!!

At first something about Schockey annoyed me, but after watching his all out effort, I find him great to watch!!!

Contrary to what a few hyperventilating commentators may think, Shockey will never NEVER be in the same league with The Great One.

Not even close.
