Oh, Mr. robber, would you mind terribly waiting until I've found the little key to my gun lock? Honey, would you kindly do the honors and shoot this creep? My battery seems to have gone dead. Some "smart gun" this one!
The new law in Maryland makes even less sense than the idea of asking a criminal to wait while you find the key (or the bullets, or whatever) before they commence robbing and killing you.
I've often thought of this next when reading that some poor soul was to be prosecuted simply because others decided that the intruder was not sufficiently threatening before being shot.
Dear Intruder, the law requires me to request that you fill out this simple questionnaire before you rob and kill me. I have to prove that you indeed intend to do me mortal harm before I can protect myself.
1. Were you, at any time, given permission to enter my home or place of business? Date______Time______ Person giving permission___________________ 2. Are your intentions merely to rob me of all my valuables, or do you intend to harm me physically or kill me? Circle one: Rob/ kill/ both 3. Your signature here absolves me of liability if I shoot you and you survive to sue me. Name(print)_____________________ address__________________City_________State_________Zip______ Date of birth___/___/___ Religious preference (optional)________________ Signature_________________________________
Thank you for your kind indulgence in this very important matter. Signed, homeowner
The very idea that anyone, under any circumstances, has any rights to sue or not be shot after they break in or threaten someone is preposterous. The notion that the victim must determine, before hand, the intent and capacity for harm of an intruder or attacker is insane. In a situation where the hesitation of even a few seconds may make the difference between life and death, the burden of responsibility must fall on the person who has absolutely no right or business being there!!!
How in heaven did things get so completely screwed up so that the most vile and violent criminals have more rights and protection under the "law" than productive people, yet some poor soul who stupidly smokes a common weed is treated worse than a dog in a puppy mill, is branded a felon for life, and may well be killed by the police for this sorry "crime".
And yet so many ordinary people continue to clamor for more government "protection", more "gun control", more ways to eliminate the possibility that anyone can protect themselves or their property. With the overwhelming evidence proving that self-defense saves lives and "gun control" costs both lives and human suffering, it is very hard to understand why people can't understand the reality of it all and begin to fight the elite government "authorities" and bureaucracy that has created this mess and maintain it with lies and misinformation.
Those VIPs are protected by armed guards and personal handguns 24/7 with very few exceptions. They know the truth! A guns saves lives, especially in the hands of ordinary people. "Gun control" is murder.
No doubt. I figure if a guy is brazen enough to kick in my back door in the middle of the night, then he is brazen enough to do just about anything. I'm not going to sit there and quiz him on what he wants. He can answer to my Ruger Super Redhawk .44 Magnum and I'll pull the trigger more than once.
Still a lot better than being dead.
In my locale, we don't put up with that crap. I haven't seen anybody charged with murder for defending their home and family around here, which is the way it ought to be.
I love it!
In Kalifornia, however, nobody, and I mean, nobody, gets a fully automatic weapon unless (and, notice the sequence) they are 1) in the movie business or 2) in law enforcement.
Yet Kalifornia has the highest per capita rate of crime in the nation. That should tell us something.
That is no joke. The liberals love to hold up Australia, Canada, and Britain as models of how gun control can and should work. I say, 'Work for what?' All three of those countries are starting to have terrible crime problems. British hooligans are terrorizing the city of London confident that nobody is armed. Same goes for Australia and Canada.
They're learning the hard way and we have to stop it from happening here. That's why I love guys like Dell Schanze, who are not afraid to tell the BATF to go shove it and quit harassing him and his employees.
But the push for "gun control" is not about public safety. It is only about control of the citizenry so that the socialist/communist goals can be advanced more readily. The cost in human lives and suffering is considered acceptable corollary damage.
In the 20th century, over 100 million citizens were murdered by their governments. Many were from forced famines and tens of millions were killed by officials of their own governments taking them to a field and executing them. What precedes tyranny? Gun control every time, and its results are never pretty.
