So who among us is naive enough to think that the liberal media are going to stop the Lottfest and switch over to Byrd ??
It's not about Senate Lott. It's about embittered media elites who want to reverse the trend to conservativism in this country.

I agree with you about the Byrd censure, at least for now! If Lott resigns and if the Democrats try to force him out of the Senate or force him out of a committee chairmanship, McConnell should then introduce such a resolution. Right now, the important thing is to get Lott out of ML and get this issue out of the way.

This is pure bullcrap. If McConnell had called for the Senate to censure Byrd when Byrd made the comments, then he would deserve credit. It does not take any cajones to call Byrd a bad man now. If he is going to lead, he needs to call on Lott to take a long walk on a short pier.

True, but "better Nate than lever, right?"
To: BaghdadBarney
What a load of crap. McConnell, Santorum and Frist have all been AWOL on calling for Lott's ouster. Nickles call for Lott's head was a very courageous thing to do.
I'm not sure the public call by Nickles was the way to handle it.

biblical instinct to extract an eye for an eye. Oh no no no Republicans.
Democrats can attack, but Republicans are NOT allowed to stand up for themselves!
Why, this is blatantly unpressident!! We can't have this! There's a mutany starting on the good ship USSA!
If Republicans expose the democrats for the real racists and hypocrits they are, they could all be unemployed. Republicans don't want to add to the "massive unemploymant" figures do they?
And what about "the children?"

This story has more twists and turns than California Pacific Highway Number One!

We conservatives didn't like it when liberals shouted "everybody does it" when Clinton was in trouble; now all of a sudden we're all for it? Demanding equal treatment does not equate to "everybody does it."

I am thinking you meant to say Byrd not Lott. That said, I have to disagree with you.
"My old mom told me, 'Robert, you can't go to heaven if you hate anybody.' We practice that." Then Byrd warned: "There are white niggers. I've seen a lot of white niggers in my time; I'm going to use that word.
"We just need to work together to make our country a better country, and I'd just as soon quit talking about it so much."
Not quite the platform of the Dixiecrats.

Where have the Republican "operatives" been in all of this? Relying on Rush and Hannity to carry their water?

Byrd's use of the word "nigger" is not benign, it is evidence of who and what he was. Whether he still is that man is impossible for me to know.
But your willingness to put the best possible light on Byrd's remarks and the least favorable on Lott's puzzles me. Why is that?

Or
B) Quit the senate , when he loses the leadership?

It was a racist comment. He was not supporting segregation, but it was a racist comment and everyone ignored it.
