Having criticized Attorney General Ashcroft on the air, O’Reilly expected harsh reaction from his viewers. But of 10,000 e-mails sent to FOX News Channel since the show, only about 100 chided O’Reilly for blasting Ashcroft, O’Reilly said.

Go Bill, Go!

Too bad B.O.Reilly doesnt examine FOX NEWS with as much scrutiny as he has Ashcroft..
Thier coverage of the sniper with their lame 'experts' probably helped the culprits ..FOXNEWS certainly did nothing but obsfucate the whole mess in the first place imo...

I started to listen to BO'R on the radio and got so disgusted with his Ashcroft bashing, I turned him off. So, the INS gaff is Ashcroft's fault? Lame brain Bill can't figure out the fact that it's the UNIONS that have hamstrung government departments.

This is the core issue with Homeland Security legislation. Bush wants to have the control to prevent this, but the Dem-RATS will have none of it.

The INS guy can't be fired because of the unions. Sure beat the one in charge when his hands are tied...O'Reily is purely scum. I can only wish him zero ratings and the boot.

O'Reilly is right - Ashcroft owes us an explanation. This happened on Ashcroft's watch. Ashcrofts' "schtick" is saying that he is going to protect us from terrorist acts (which is what this is). If he doesn't address this, then I don't see any difference between Bush and Clinton.

Thank God for O'Reilly keeping this latest INS outrage alive. For all his supposed conservative principles, Ashcroft seems as much a prisoner of political correctness as the FBI. As for the virtual blackout on the topic by the mainstream media, that's sadly to be expected. But Ashcroft and Bush are turning out to be major disappointments.

That's what bothers me: Too many people are incapable of seeing the difference between Bush and Clinton.

My hat's off to the James Carvilles and Paul Begalas: They've convinced you that black = white.

Agreed, Ashcroft either owes us some fired employees or an explanation of what laws, regulations and presidential orders are preventing a thorough housecleaning.

It's not the messenger so much as the message- our borders are wide open and illegal aliens are killing us. If it isn't O'Reilly, it's Savage or even Rush now and many more are saying it, we have to get control of the illegal immigration mess and soon.

While he doesn't bite the hand that feeds him, he has written a piece questioning the media coverage in general.

what if you — had gone out to work that day or gone to Ponderosa and – bang – you got a bullet in the head from a guy who should have been deported — who (the INS) had?” O’Reilly said.
“And then you find out that the INS agent on his own falsified this (Border Patrol arrest) report — and then you find out the attorney general won’t even investigate it. How would you feel?”

I'd still feel dead, I think. ;^)

Sorry I missed this Indy event, though!

This is very simple. Put pressure on the men at the top to get things done. What do you want him to do - bash the unions until they voluntarily withdraw their immunity from firing? If a waiter is rude to you, which is more effective: Bitching him out, or complaining to the manager?

I would like to see a source on that the INS guy can't be fired due to unions.
I believe BO'R is more complaining that Ashcroft won't even touch this matter and that the INS is getting a free pass in this whole mess.

No doubt there are so many hands in this one doesn't know what the other has done and some bad guys would slip by.

I think that is why GWB wants a department of homeland security to plug the holes.
