Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:
29 have been accused of spousal abuse
7 have been arrested for fraud
19 have been accused of writing bad checks
117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
3 have done time for assault
71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
14 have been arrested on drug related charges
8 have been arrested for shop lifting
21 are currently defendants in law suits
84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year
Can you guess what organization this is?

Well, after seeing the keyword here, I must say this is very series!
To: MissBaby
Has to be the US House of Representatives.
To: truenospinzone

Funny, but not true.
I only wish we could arrest 113 Congresscritters!

Congres is never series enough.
To: MissBaby
This is supposed to represent Congress and it is a couple of years old.

What is a hoax?A hoax is like a trick or a deception, basically something that's not true, and if a hoax is perpetrated with intent to defraud, it's very series, indeed!
LOL!!! ;)

I of course knew this was not true and was merely making sure all of you were on your toes. As usual, you are. Good job. Keep up the good work.

The Snopes rundown on this is extraordinarily preachy. Usually they are content to expose the hoax, but this one was written by a real Congress-lover.
To: MissBaby
Can you guess what organization this is?Sounds like the Chevy dealership where my wife works.
To: MissBaby; All
Well, can we Freepers come up with an accurate, irrefutable, "snopes-proof" list? We have Torricelli, Rostenkowski, Kennedy, Barney "My Boy Lollipop" Frank...

OOh, that's very series.
(But the keywords gave it away.)
To: AppyPappy
The snopes article didn't say it wasn't true.
To: Wm Bach
Well hello, Dali!
To: ItisaReligionofPeace
When you report a fact, it is up to you to verify it's authenticity. The lack of any dates or names would make it impossible to verify therefore rendering it presumably false.
Not only that, you should not repeat something as a fact unless you know it is true.

It's a hoax. No doubt. Some congresscritter probably started circulating this to rehabilitate congress' image.
"Don't tell mom I'm a senator, she still thinks I play piano in a whorehouse."
To: J. L. Chamberlain; Arthur McGowan; AppyPappy
Snopes has a well-known liberal, pro-Big Government, bias. I wouldn't trust them to tell the truth on something like this, and instead expect them to bend over backwards to "prove" it false.
To: gundog
You guys have been making hay out of this cereal nonsense, despite the fact that there isn't a grain of truth to any of it. But then I guess making corny jokes is easier than having intelligent intercourse on the exposed breasts issue.

Congress. Yes this is an old one that has been going around email for quite a while. Sadly true though.

Then you should have no trouble finding the evidence that it is real, right? We'll wait patiently.

But that's not important now...

To: AppyPappy
It's not entirely a hoax. Some of the stats are believable, some are not. At least one (the bad checks) is probably understated. (Remember the House Bank?) The number of drunk drivers seems both implausibly high and impossible for anyone to have tallied. (If there's no accident, and the police let a guy off because he's a Congressman, one wouldn't expect any paperwork to exist on that.)
Further, the Snopes "debunking" article goes on and on about innocence until proven guilty, but that concept has less meaning here because:
1) As Snopes said, Congress has certain arrest immunities when in session.
2) Innocent until proven guilty is a term that applies to punishment by the criminal justice system, not to political judgements. We don't have to "prove" that a politician has broken the law to let it affect our political judgement, just as we don't have to "prove" his lesser, nonlegal offenses (e.g., incompetence, ideological disagreement with us, whatever) before letting such factors affect our judgement and/or votes.
3) We're talking statistics of large numbers here -- again, not whether to punish an individual. If you're thinking of going to work for a trucking firm in New York, and 10 out of 20 employees have been arrested for racketeering, loan sharking, etc., you'd reasonably suspect that there's something there: it's a mob operation of some sort, and you'd be a fool to go to work for it. (Unless you want to join the mob.)

But that's not important now...Oh, heehee! Thanks for the pic...made my day! ;)

Ceres was the ancient Latin goddess of vegetation, whose worship merged completely with that of the Greek goddess Demeter.

To: AppyPappy
All I am saying is that Snopes basically made excuses for why it wouldn't be a big deal if the Congressmen couldn't get a credit card, or how it's no big deal so many were pulled over for suspicion of DUI.
To: Constitution Day
LOL! How many inches or feet would you say she was in demeter?
I'm being cirrus about this.
