US pet owners are learning animal first aid, including mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
The Red Cross is running the £23 courses across America.
They use inflatable dog and cat 'dolls' with articulated limbs to practice on.
The four-hour course tells people how to do the Heimlich manoeuvre on a cat and how to apply ice to a canine nose bleed.
Graduating students are given a certificate in animal first aid, reports the Daily Telegraph.

It frightens you because you are twisted!
I went to one of these classes once - it was offered at a dog show. Pretty good I spose! - Only a few things are really different than first aid for people-folk!

Yes, I think there was a news video of a fireman giving mouth to mouth to some kittens after a fire. I think he saved their lives. : )

Not all of them. the last K9 CPR course our search-and-rescue team K9 operators went to had automated K9 *mannikens* [doggikins?] every bit as sophisticated as the more usual *rescue Annie* upon whom we more generally practice human CPR. The day after we'd had the course, one of our team members had to perform CPR on a 3-year old who'd fallen into the pool. She credited the K9 CPR course refresher with saving the kid's life.

Teach her to play fetch, run her until her little tongue is hanging out. She will be happy to lay still for a while.
Found a bad side to teaching a cat to fetch. If you tire of tossing their ball or toy for them ... they have claws to keep reminding you ... let's play. : )

I'm the one with my tongue hanging out. Kimber does her "fetch" ... jumps in the pool ... shakes herself off ... comes with the ball and we start all over again. In spite of repeted warnings by my poolguy ... that ONE dog, is like 7 people in your pool. LOL &;-)
