After reading "Prisoners of The Japanese" by Gavan Dawes, you couldn't avoid the conclusion that the U.S. official response to what was done to POW's in the Pacific was desultory at best. Nothing like the punishment that was meted out to the German High Command.

The medal and story of Versace got plenty of coverage on the morning show at KABC 790AM
this morning.
Ken Minyard had a friend who has been involved in the campaign to honor Versace
on for maybe five minutes. The guy did a good job of talking about Versace...sorry but
I can't remember his name.

Side-bar: ALOHA RONNIE, don't know if you ever listen to that show, but Minyard
(the liberal populist from, believe it or not, Muskogee, Oklahoma)
does occassionally mention that his side-kick Ken Avey (sp?) was a Green Beret
who served in Vietnam.
(I've noticed that it's always Minyard who mentions this. Avey never blows his
horn about it. Makes me think Avey must be "the real deal".)

"I've been an armchair researcher of the POW/MIA issue (primarily from the SE Asia conflict) for a while now and I'm utterly convinced some POWs (at least 366) were left behind. The evidence for it is so blatant it will make your hair stand"

...and how ROGER BARKLEY from LaCanada died just 2 years later of a broken heart.

...Just another Liberal.

Thank you Ronnie. I sure do remember what Ken did, I was living in Los Angeles at the time. It was awful how Roger was treated like that. Thanks Ronnie for the ping to the thread too.

RONNIE, thanks for the info.
Occassionally Minyard gets a caller who side-bars and gets nostalgic for
"the days when you (Minyard) and Barkley were on".
Minyard will give a "those were
wonderful years" speech.

I'm glad you told me obout this, it affirms my suspicion that Minyard is
an ignorant leftie.

But as an Okie-expatriate, I mostly listen so that I can get to hear
the sensible Dan Avey try to delicately bring Minyard up-to-speed on a story
that any talk show host should have read.
It's great to hear Minyard try to wing it and just show how incompetent he is.
