At one time, I thought a term limits amendment might be a start, but that's not going to happen. We could make a small step at reform by returning to state legislatures selecting Senators, but that's not going to happen either.
If we had a government that stuck to the Consitution, it wouldn't matter so much, as the effect on the economy and the population would be modest. But, we aren't going to see a return to traditional Constitutional limits either.
History shows that radical reductions in governmental authority only occur as a result of internal revolution, economic collapse or lost wars. I can't say that I am looking forward to any of these three causative factors.

What I forgot to add was that it's 50-50 whether the result is a reduction in government or a dictatorship.

Don't you wish! Pelosi has just been elected Dem Whip. And she's talked about as a Presidential candidate.
I thought the comment was rather chilling, myself. I wouldn't be surprised to hear that many Dems agree with her.
It only renews my determination to do all that I can to get Dems out of power! When one of their most powerful leaders understands so little of what this country is about, we know we are in danger. She may do more harm than Al Qaeda ever dreamed of doing.
Aye, that's the rub.

The Honorable Nancy Pelosi
Dear Ms. Pelosi:
I happened to catch part of an interview with you this week on either CNN or Fox News. You used a phrase regarding the 911 blame game that struck me as ludicrous. You said that the American people are looking to us for answers.
What incredible and unmitigated arrogance! I hate to be the one to break this to you, but the American people, especially those of us in flyover country, stopped looking to Washington for answers a long time ago. In fact, if a proposal comes out of Washington, it receives less consideration than if the same proposal was made by the next door neighbor.
In short, Ms. Pelosi, Congress lost its credibility with the American people years ago. Ninety-five percent of politicians are regarded as self-serving, money-grubbing and power-hungry. W really wish you would all go home and keep your mouths shut and your hands out of our pockets. Please stop trying to find answers for us.
