Refresh my memory -- I think Markey was the one who decided cable TV operators were ripping off the public (can't argue with that!), but once his sponsored "reforms" went through, cable prices (around here anyway) rose by almost 50%.

You are correct on this. This press release is designed to get Markey's name out in front of his constitutents this election cycle. From what I recollect he doesn't even own a house in his district-he's a fulltime potomac bottomfeeder.

I think his last credible oppenent was about 10 years ago.

I don't understand the *need* to publize these reports....do an investigation, submit it, and fix it....why report it in the media so all potential terrorist can see our weeknesses....you might as well give them a map and a game plan.

We have a spent fuel problem unlike the Europeans because they have a "breeder reactor" to re-cycle spent fuel.

President Jimmy Carter cancelled this country's breeder reactor program in the 1970's

FIRST: Markey is a nobody in Congress who obviously wants to take the shortest route to becoming a "name" in politics. SECOND: He's 100% ANTI-Nuclear power THIRD: Anyone who thinks that the Bush Administration has somehow overlooked our Nuclear Plants and every possible scenerio for terrorists to involve them is the same kind of nitwit as a certain nobody congressman who took SEVEN MONTHS FOLLOWING 9/11 to think that our Nuclear Plants could be a target of terrorists.

My intent via my response to you is not to offend you or belittle you...however, I will say this:

Are people this naive?

You are saying that everything has been thought of and anyone who disagress is a nitwit.

sit back and read your post. It makes no sense, my friend.

Why? you say?
For starters, if everything (including the nuke reactors) has been thought of and under control, why did 9/11 happen in the first place. Go back and read the FLAMING reports regarding Airport security and the FAA whistleblowers that have been ridiculed over the past several years - NOTHING WAS DONE. NOTHING.

How about the 35,000 visas granted to people from countries on the US TERRORISM list who were GRANTED visas AFTER 9/11???

How about the terrorists who flew planes into buildings receiving VISAS in the mail 6 months later?!

Need I go on?

I do not want to sound negative here, in your defense and in the defense of the government, there exists such a GIANT beuracracy that they, I am sure are hindered when it comes to making change.

However, if people would start asking more questions and holding those that REPRESENT us accountable, the likelihood of 9/11 type events would be much less.

As for the report by Markey who is a flaming liberal?

Does that make the report inaccurate?

Maybe there is a reason he came out with the report instead of someone more credible? (just some thoughts)

Take care and have a nice day.

Kind regards

Franklin

I don't understand the *need* to publize these reports....

In a world of competent government, there would be no need. The people we elect and pay to take care of these things would be motivated to do their jobs in the best way possible. As it is, though, if it weren't for reports that caused heat to be applied, nothing would ever get fixed. A mad scramble would take place after an attack, while the terrorists laugh and plan the next one in a completely different arena. When you wind up with an industry in which workers are never fired and never really held accountable, no matter how sorry a job they do, it's a recipe for disaster.

Well..after all she was such a precocious child.

Remember also that Chelsea negotiated the Middle East Peace Accords.
