Excellent point! Giotto's frescoes are a sublime manifestation of the Western tradition. That is what we are ultimately fighting for.
It was my pleasure to view these frescoes back in '93. The experience is one I definitely treasure.
A fantastic site - that, to me, looks far better and different from the "Giotto"s in Assissi. I've been to the chapel three times and it has, so far, never been crowded.
Giotto was over 100 years ahead of other painters.
