[history]
When John Walker Lindh was captured in Afghanistan last December, ,b>he told reporters that he joined the Taliban because his “heart became attached to them.” But according to documents his lawyers filed in federal court in Virginia on Friday, Lindh actually feared his comrades more than he loved them. After learning of the September 11 attacks, the documents say, Lindh “was obviously disillusioned...and wanted to leave his Taliban unit but could not do so for fear of death.”

What medical records? I thought Jihad Johnny's lawyers were claiming he didn't receive medical attention from those mean, nasty Americans.
To: Teacup
If he was scared when he captured at the prison, he would have said he did NOT support the bombings of the WTC. But he said he supported them. He's a true believer and we should take him at his word. Not his lawyer's word later.

Didn't he also tell his father how he supported the bombing of the Cole? Gee, that doesn't sound like someone who was afraid. He could have left when the USS Cole was bombed.

Didn't read the entire thread because BS is still BS regardless how they try and spin it. His e-mails sent prior to 9/11 speak volumes and there's little wiggle room for this worm.

Lindhs lawyers say that all of the information they seek will demonstrate the highly coercive
conditions under which the interrogations upon which the government relies took place. ....not to mention the highly coercive actions which took place on 9/11......

First his defense tried to say that little Johnny talaban didn't have access to U.S. newspapers, and he didn't know what was going on, but he could email his mommy. Didn't he also tell his mommy, "Bush is your president, not mine" ? He's toast and he knows it.

Well you know how it goes. Now that he's all cleaned up and eats good, and is back home, he suddenly realizes he's in big trouble. Like Rush says, "All he has to say is I'm sorry" right? NOT!

Get a rope is right. Jihad Johnny is a tactical mistake. He should have been one of the casualties, thrown anonymously into a mass grave after the battle. Too late now, gotta play out the game.
I have a feeling this will end up a cause celebre of the left.

Precisely. He's dead whichever way you slice it. I'd personally like to drop him off at a fire house in NYC, and have him introduced to the delights of a 4 inch hose in the rear end. Let him see what it's like to explode.

Lindh will have to put his hand on the Bible (not the Koran), swear to tell the truth and testify in his own behalf. It's basically Lindh's word against EVERYONE.

To: Teacup
From the article: ' By January, when the government was preparing charges against Lindh, his lawyers say, Justice Department officials were relying not on original notes from the December interviews with Lindh, but on secondhand reports that reflect, consciously or not, developing theories of the prosecutions case. '
Since many believe that the government's case is so strong, it strikes me as odd that the government is not able to clearly document their interrogations of Lindh. He is the only American we hear about that was captured in Afghanistan and his identity has been known since just after his capture.
The government's inability to keep accurate records suggests that the government is incompetent or the government wishes for an outcome which would not be forthcoming if they kept accurate records. I have seen this behavior before and I know what it means.
To: Teacup
Poor Johnny Talaban! If they let that sonofabitch go free, his life will not be worth a plug nickle.

I agree with you 100% Thorn11cav. Why spend my time and money on this guy? This guy was caught with his hand in the cookie jar, now he wants sympathy. I honestly think, he had something to do with Span's death. I have no proof, just a gut feeling. Mrs. Span will attend the court hearing, she said as much.

If so, on his return to the mid-east, let it be via a one seater remote control plane operated by the NY Finest.

After learning of the September 11 attacks, the documents say, Lindh was obviously disillusioned...and wanted to leave his Taliban unit but could not do so for fear of death. This is unmitigated crap.
It shares that quality with Taliban John's father (who left Lucy Lawless for a bathhouse operator) bleating how much TJ "loves America", "would never do anything to hurt America"--
And the Buddhist Lucy Lawless "thanking God" TJ was back safe and sound--
These mouth-breathers sent Damian to Yemen on a Hate America Scholarship--
Where he applauded the bombing of the Cole.
The medical care contradiction has been hanging around this punk's neck for a long time. Denied medical care, but was on pain relievers, so, King's X.
To: PhilDragoo
Absolutely!!!!!! I agree with you 100%.

"Johnny loves America!", "We love America!", now this Barbra Streisand; a show of puppets on a string pulled by Johnny's high flying attorneys. Lessons of past 9 years learned well - whatever you can get away with, the media is your friend, gullible soccer moms will swallow anything, "we'll just have to win!"
To: Teacup
"Bush is your president, not mine" Yup that's indeed what he said and I pray those words come back to haunt him. Frankly, I think it will be difficult to get a fair minded jury this early in the game. We have short memories but NOT THAT SHORT.
