Sheila Jackson Lee, Limousine Liberal
On her Web site Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee claims, "As your Representative in Congress, I feel that it is my duty to ensure that the government tirelessly works on your behalf." But in reality she seems to think taxpayers must work tirelessly on her behalf so can be chauffeured one block to work.
United Press International noted today that "the fiery liberal" Texas Democrat is under fire in the latest issue of the conservative magazine The Weekly Standard.
"According to writer Sam Dealey, Jackson Lee has a staff member pick her up in a government car each morning to take her to work. That might not be a head-turning event except that she lives, according to Dealey, in an apartment building whose entrance is 200 paces - yes, paces - from the building where her office is located."
Fox News Channel has caught the plus-size prima donna on camera getting her taxpayer-funded lift. It reported tonight that she claims other congressmen in her building get the same perquisite, but she refused to name them and reneged on her pledge to appear on Fox.

I'll bet she says she's "entitled" to a limo, need it or not. A little exercise would be good for her.

You wouldn't expect her to get her shoes dirty like the great unwashed pee-ons , do you?

The follow-up story that I saw on Fox tonight, had the Jackson-Lee camp retorting that she had to take a car to work, because she had SO MANY heavy files to carry everyday!
To: A Citizen Reporter
She's haulin something heavy around but it ain't files. It's the second syllable of what any demoncrap is--the first syllable being "jack".

Ah, isn't that always the justificatory excuse? "Look at all the work I'm doing for the American people!"

Maybe the aide that is sitting in the car for 1/2 to 45 mins every morning, waiting for the queen to appear, and blocking traffic, might be enlisted to help her carry her files......sans car....
To: A Citizen Reporter
I bet Hillary has a driver.

You know, I agree that Lee's behavior is petty and wasteful. But when we attack her on stuff like this, it makes us look pretty ridiculous...

I bet Hillary has a driver. She does. He runs over security guards at her request.

"she had SO MANY heavy files to carry everyday." What happened to her democrat issued shredder?

"... The follow-up story that I saw on Fox tonight, had the Jackson-Lee camp retorting that she had to take a car to work, because she had SO MANY heavy files to carry everyday!" I figured they would come up with something more original and say that her chauffered ride makes her a tougher target for Al-Queda.

If you saw the interview Brit Hume did with the Weekly Standard writer last night, I think you might disagree. Ms. Jackson-Lee is a boor who masquerades as a congresswoman and she deserves to have a little sunlight thrown her way if only to temper her behavior with her poor staff and other assorted 'menials' who have the misfortune to come into contact with her.
To: dead culture watch
What happened to her democrat issued shredder? Maybe it's her huge Marxist handbook. Without it, she'd be lost.

I'm not debating that, friend. What I'm saying is that conservatives should stay out of the fray. Let Brit Hume and company attack her behavior. When we pile on, it just makes us look bad.

Let Ms. Jackson-Lee have it. She is rude and needs to be exposed.

The public has a right to know about how their representatives conduct themselves in public.Shelia Jackson Lee has a reputation for abusing her authority and charging racism when it suits her.Payback is fair play, or don't throw stones if you live in a glass house.

You guys aren't hearing me. I say that we bring it to the attention of the conservative press (say, at Fox News). And let them beat the crap out of her. Not us.

As a Congresscritter, for Ms. Jackson Lee to take a government-leased car to work every day is illegal. Look it up. It is incumbent upon all of us to point out every single time these people break the law.
To: A Citizen Reporter
because she had SO MANY heavy files to carry everyday! Why not get a staffer to carry them?
To: Clinton's a liar
Really? Why isn't that the focus of this story, then?
To: monkeyshine
It is part of the story in the original article in the Weekly Standard. I don't know why Fox didn't focus on that, nor NewsMax.
To: monkeyshine
From the Weekly Standard story:
According to the Congressional Handbook, the bible of dos and don'ts for House offices, "commuting expenses are not reimbursable." These costs are defined as "transportation expenses incurred by the Member or employees between their residence and duty station." A spokesman for the Committee on House Administration confirms that the use of a government-leased vehicle for commuting purposes and the use of a public employee as a driver are both violations of House rules. Of course, every lawmaker is expected to know the Congressional Handbook. But Jackson Lee was also provided a copy of these guidelines when her office leased the car that she rides in to work.
