New Jersey drivers are the worst in the country. You haven't driven in Boston, have you?

Even if you were flagged 20 times, it would have been a shame if you had missed this thread..... lol I thought for a minute you said "Even if you were flogged 20 times, it would have been a shame if you had missed this thread..... lol"

17. You know how to properly negotiate a Circle. AMEN!! AAAAAAAMEN!! I grew up in NJ and I have to believe we are the only state that has laws governing traffic circles. If Washington state has these laws, they have not been released to the public.

But I DID mean to write "flogged".... did I accidently write "flagged"..... oops! lol

Good ones. I like the one about Willowbrook mall. 127 days and it'll all be a memory. I'm gettin' out. Good for you! I got out 8 years ago. :)

I am from Oakland NJ Hey, I grew up just off of Long Hill Rd. by the Shop-Rite. I left for college about 11 years ago. I just went back the past Christmas and saw how much the place changed.

"Here's a real test in that you are from Flemington. Do you remember ROBERT HALL" Does Flemington Dept Store Count?

Ever eat at Rutt's Hut on Route 3?
You beat me to the punch, I was going to mention Rutt's Hut as a classic North Jersey landmark as well!

The best thing about N.J. is the roads leading out of it.I admit, they're may be alot of bad things in our state, but there's also alot of good things as well. Our state get's a bad rap. As you can see by the size of this thread there are alot of freepers who either live, or have lived in New Jersey.
It's predujicial comments from people like you that perpetuate the stigma of NJ=Bad.
The part of the state that most jokes come from are urban areas close to NYC and Philadelphia. Just about everywhere else in the state is just as good, if not better, than other parts of the country.

New Jersey driver's motto is "Because I can"I remember being intimidated by large trucks coming the other way at New Jersey stop lights. When the light turned green, they would immediately turn left in front of me. Who is going to argue with a big truck?
Driving in rural Jersey also involved coming up to intersections that had no identifying road signs to tell you where you were or which way to go.

You haven't driven in Boston, have you? Yep, the problem there is that there is so much construction nobody knows where they're going.

If you can survive Jersey driving, then you can drive ANYWHERE.
LOL,LGE

Does Flemington Dept Store Count? Nah, I think it's too new to yet be considered an icon.

I grew up in NJ and I have to believe we are the only state that has laws governing traffic circles. Navigating the Somerville Circle without breaking a law and without causing someone to blow their horn or shout an obcsenity at you should be mandatory for a drivers license in NJ.

My best friend when I was in the Navy was from New Jersey. I was amazed at how nice it was when I visited there. It gets a bad rap from people who haven't been there. There was an automated "subway" that you could ride to "Echelon Mall" - a nice mall. The New Jerseyans I met were fine people. Parts of NJ are very evocative of Springsteen's oeuvre.

Born and raised in NJ, I moved out of Jersey to California in 87. The only thing I miss about Jersey is the food.
When I go back east to visit my family, the first thing I get as soon as I get off the plane is 2 hard rolls with butter (or taylor ham and egg) and coffee. For lunch it's either pizza (the worst pizza is made in CA), or White Castle. For dinner, it's homemade, of course. Snacks are Wise potato chips or Tastykakes.
Checking Orbitz now for plane tickets, I'm getting hungry...

Please let me add, you know you're in NJ when you aren't allowed to own a handgun.

Yeah, good point, but sad one.

Morris Bauman may you rest in peace. Going out to eat at "The Clairmont" was a weekly event in our house. Anyone remember Helmut? Summers at Mountain Crest (Cabana Club sucks!) Miele's pizza (can't believe it's still there), sledding down The Blinks at the country club, feeding the ducks and peddle-boating in Verona Park, driving through Essex Fells as if it were Beverly Hills. We KNEW back in the 60's that our area was "mafia territory." It's kind of cool to see The Sopranos finally caught on.
