On Sunday, December 7, 1941, the USA was drawn into the worldwide war against the left-wing, heterophobic fascism of Hitler's National Socialist German Workers (NAZI) Party. Then, just like now, Jews were targeted by a genocidal movement.
In 1941, the USA took a stand against evil.
Now, in 2001, we are taking a stand against evil again.
On Tuesday, September 11, 2001, the USA was drawn into the worldwide war against terrorism by the attack on the World Trade Center. Israel is fighting that same war by virtue of having endured countless attacks by a number of anti-semitic terrorist groups.
The leader of the terrorist organization Hamas recently spoke of conquering Jerusalem itself, and of destroying Israel.
This is nothing new.
It is, however, particularly disturbing in the wake of recent terrorist attacks on Israel. These attacks emphasize to the world what Israel has known all along:
The terrorists mean what they say.
They really believe that they can destroy Israel, and convert the land from the West Bank to the sea into "Palestine". This effort is endorsed and supported by Islamic Jihad, Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Palestinian Authority.
The Palestinian Authority is the central factor in this quest to destroy Israel. Despite their tendency to get applauded at the UN, they are not a pro-peace organization.
Quite the opposite.
The Palestinian Authority is an organized terrorist group, led by one of the world's most brutal terrorist kings, Chairman Yasser Arafat. The sole purpose of the Palestinian Authority is to destroy the Judeo-Christian Holy Land of Israel.
Thus, the contrived designation of a sovereign nation called "Palestine" would be am irretractable error of galactic (even apocalyptic) proportions.
Oslo has failed. Land has been ceded, peace has remained elusive.
Appeasement never works. The very idea that Palestinian Authority suicide-bombers and other Arafat-endorsed terrorists would play nice once they had their own country is illogical. The establishment of a "Palestine" would give the Palestinian Authority a more secure than ever base from which to launch their campaign of genocidal destruction against innocent Israelites.
Former (and future) Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that those living in the West Bank, Gaza, and even East Jerusalem can have local autonomy and self-rule without the per-se designation of a Palestinian State.
Netanyahu, who understands the war on terrorism as well as any man alive, has also said that the Palestinian Authority cannot be allowed to establish and maintain an unchecked terrorist army right on Israel's border. This is exactly what would happen if "Palestine", as a sovereign state, ever became a reality.
The result would not be peace in the Middle East, but an escalation of the current state of war to a holocaust of biblical proportions.
The Israelites deserve infinitely better.
Jews and Christians worldwide, who together acknowledge the shared heritage of The Holy Land, deserve better.
The image of a brand-new terrorist state in the Middle East is a bleak one. How many innocent Israelites would die because of it?
Even one would be too many.
Arafat cannot stop terrorism coming from his own people, much less from allied terrorist organizations. It is quite clear that he's not feeling very motivated to try. An Arafat successor would be no better, because the goals and tactics of the Palestinian Authority would remain the same.
Current Israel Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has ordered retaliation on Palestinian Authority strongholds in response to the recent unprovoked terrorist attacks on Israel. He referred to this retaliation as Israel's own "War On Terror".
Clearly, his use of this phrase is intended to draw a parallel between the current United States' campaign against the Taliban, al-Qaeda, Saddam Hussein etc, and Israel's in-self-defense retaliation against terrorists launching strikes on the Holy Land from Gaza and the West Bank.
And rightly so.
We must stand against terrorism, and against terrorists like Yasser Arafat, Osama bin laden, Saddam Hussein, and the rest.
We must protect our families, our homes, and our way of life.
And we must stand with our allies, including the great nation of Israel. Not for any political reasons, but because it is the just, noble, good and right thing to do.
Christians and Jews must stand together in brotherhood.
We must stand together, against the unholy evil which is waging war against our families and our homes.
These are critical times in the history of humankind.
Future generations will look back upon the pages of history which we are writing now, and they will judge our actions in the context of our opportunities.
We have the opportunity to make the world a better place. For the sake of our children, for the sake of our children's children, let's do it.
As their intelligence network infultrates and spys on our Government, not to mention not sharing information in advance to the attack on the WTC allowing 4000 of our countrymen to die!
Now, in 2001, we are taking a stand against evil again.
Sigh.....Isn't it a shame the author feels the US does not take a stand against evil every single day. Be that as it may, anyone with a conscience is a natural ally against Arafat and the other Islamic Terrorists. Unfortunately, there are many in FR who consider themselves to be Christian s, but who side with the so-called "Palestinians" and their leader.
Uh. Everytime Israel warns US of a possible terrorist attack (in fact they did so just this summer, our state dept issued a warning that a terrorist attack against US or US interests is expect, I remember, because my brother was in Morocco at that time and I was worried sick) people like you are first ones to accuse Israel of trying to advance their "anti-arab" agenda.
International Christian Embassy Jerusalem
"Christian supporters of Israel established the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem as a practical expression of the desire of believers throughout the world to bless and comfort Zion. The Embassy opened after the international community condemned Israel for declaring united Jerusalem the "eternal and indivisible capital" of the reborn Jewish state. As 13 nations moved their embassies from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv due to a threatened Arab oil embargo, 1400 Christians from 40 countries decided to open their own Embassy in Jerusalem. It was an act of solidarity with the Jewish people's 3000-year-old connection to their holy city."
Do the mainstream churches think everything will be okay if the palis have their way?
Perhaps because Israeli soldiers aren't using their children for target practice? Orthodox Christians aren't so lucky: Pray for Bethlehem Christians.
Well, I know that my wife is a Catholic and her parish recently took up a collection specifically to buy an ambulance for the Israeli Emergency Services (or whatever the heck they call themselves).
I wouldn't be quite so quick on the drawer there, Tex ... there are a lot of Catholics who support Israel. I'm not a Christian, not a Jew, nor a Muslim ... and I support Israel to the fullest.
So you'd better holster your beliefs and not be so quick on the draw about who supports who.
Am I embarrassed ... pulled the trigger a little too quickly without proofreading.
Militantly trained young innocents have feelings too
