We can't get too excited about this.

Remember that to CNN "BALANCE" means 90% favorable coverage for the enemy,
and 10% for the U.S.

I give him credit, where credit is due.

Definition of a conservative: A liberal who has been mugged. I saw George McGovern on TV, and he SUPPORTS this war. Many other democrats do, also, including Sens. Kerry and Kerrey, both anti-Vietnam combat vets.

I suspect they have read their mail, heard from the administration, and are taking due heed of the mood of the nation.

Like other Freepers, I will believe it, when I see it, as far as "balanced" coverage. I would say excessive coverage of ENEMY civilian deaths, at the expense of other war aspects, would constitute "giving aid and comfort to the enemy."

"I only watch Fox, "

I like FOX best. But it is so noisy. Too loud and jittery. I hate that bump music they use.

No, CNN is owned by Time-Warner-AOL.

Issacson taking over CNN: WALTER ISSACSON, 49, a former managing editor of Time magazine who was named editorial director of Time Inc. after the merger of America Online and Time Warner, has been named chairman and chief executive officer of the CNN News Group. The appointment comes slightly more than a week after Tom Johnson abruptly announced his resignation after 11 years as the top executive of the pioneering TV news organization, which has struggled recently to redefine and redirect itself in the face of competition from Fox News Channel, MSNBC and the Internet. Mr. Isaacson, who is expected to take a much more active role in the nitty-gritty of the channel than Mr. Johnson did, will report to Jamie Kellner, the chairman and CEO of TBS Inc., the expanded division that includes CNN and all the Turner Broadcasting properties as well as The WB. Mr. Kellner and his No. 2 executive, Garth Ancier, have devoted much of their time and energy this spring and summer to putting some spark back in CNN by, among other things, boosting star power (a signature show is being developed for former ABC newsman Aaron Brown, and former "NYPD Blue" actress Andrea Thompson was hired to anchor CNN Headline News, which is being dramatically revamped). Reporting to Mr. Isaacson will be Phil Kent, president and chief operating officer of CNN News Group. Reporting to both Mr. Isaacson and Mr. Kent will be Eason Jordan, CNN's chief news executive and president of news gathering. "Larry King Live" will continue to report to the chairman, as it had under Mr. Johnson's reign. Mr. Isaacson, who first met Mr. King as a correspondent in Time's Washington bureau, where he would appear on Mr. King's old overnight radio show, said, "I will be dealing directly with Larry. I think he reports to whomever he wants to."

See? Sometimes big corporate mergers can be a good thing. :-)

When the higher ups have to tell trained journalists that they need to be less biased - it means nothing except that they will now start mouthing something they don't believe in.

Either you are with the U.S.A. or you are with the terrorists.

Terrorists are great pretenders..so I guess that's what CNN is going to start being - just Great Pretenders.

They have already shown where their loyalty is and I will not turn them on to see them put on a new act!

Where's my salts Martha?

Thanks for the ping. Pardon my cynicism, but the fact that CNN gives ANY credence to info provided by the Taliwhacked is reprehensible--even if they try to show "balance" by reminding viewers of 911. There simply is no good reason to treat the evildoers as credible--none at all.

Do you suppose Isaacson would be willing to preach this message to BBC? I think they're worse than CNN.

I want to see the CNN reporters asking the Taliban the same kinds of questions that put people at risk that they ask of the Pentagon.

"Shiek Omar, where is Osama right now and would a 1,000 pound bomb be enough to kill him?"

Fox News cannot carry CNN's jock-strap, when they are reporting about Afghanistan, or the Middle East.

They are stuck in "Anthrax Mode" 24-7, it seems.

Pardon my cynicism,...

Certainly; understood. We have been living with the enemy within for so long, I'm just thankful we've not grown accustomed to their face. One small step for CNN?

Who would WANT to, and besides, wasn't it Thomas Jefferson that said roughly: The man who doesn't read the newspapers will be better informed than he that does. I will take Fox's tidbits rather than CNN's leftist drivel.

I hope this is followed. I was feeling that the majors were being played by the Suckaban this whole time.

example;

Today American planes dropped bombs on the taliban front lines. The Taliban claims that 100 civilians were killed, mostly women and children (click to see picture). The Taliban also claimed that Osama is alive and well along with the entire Taliban leadership.

Our media needs to wake up and quit being "Hanoi CNN".

Dream on my friend, this wench, woodruff, won't resign. She likes to see her face and hear her voice on tv, too much. Maybe she'll choke when she reports something in favor of America. WENCH!
