That was the central theme of his campaign.
He called it "compassionate conservatism".
Best I've heard so far!
Yes it is, and it wasn't decided by you or us.
Eventually, denial no longer works; hope you can join us soon.
MST3K ref. Don't worry.
Amazing, how those bong hits stir your creativity!
If we U.S. citizens cannot stand the "heat" of exerting our constitutionaly guaranteed rights, how are we going to stand the "heat" of countering a jihad?
Good point. And the answer is not encouraging. I figure we have about a 50% chance of surviving some sort of real uprising in this country. For the lack of single firearm in the hands of a good guy, a few madmen armed with little more than fingernail files murdered thousands. This PC BS about how "guns kill", therefore no one should be allowed to own one, is part and parcel of what's wrong with the US.
We have allowed ourselves to be sold a bill of goods by left-wing idiots and fear-mongers. We have allowed firearms to be villified as "evil totems", instead of adhering to [George] Washington's description of guns as the "Teeth of Liberty."
Perhaps this little atrocity will serve as a wake-up call to the petrified citizenry of the US. Homeland defense is no longer merely an abstract concept; the first line of personal defense is the armed citizen. It has always been so, since the birth of this great nation. But we have forgotten that the price of liberty is constant vigilance coupled with INDIVIDUAL preparedness.
We have nearly succumbed to the PC BS rampant in the US. If the people of this country had been this damned foolish after Pearl Harbor, we would all be speaking Japanese and German today.
This is exactly the phrase I was thinking of. We shouldn't couch this struggle in the language of seeking "justice" or some kind of emotional need for "revenge." The use of the word "justice" is particularly impotent, considering the American justice system allowed the murderous O.J. Simpson to smugly walk the streets, and failed to hold any of the crooks, liars and thieves of the Clinton administration accountable. And let's not forget that the last two times the justice system was used to fight terrorism -- the Lockerbie bombing and the first attack on the World Trade Center in 1993 -- all we managed to do was net a couple of low-level thugs while the murderous masterminds of the plots escaped "justice" to plot even more devastating attacks.
The use of the word "revenge" distills our action down to emotional spasm that has triumphed over reason. While we are all emotional about what has happened on our soil and want revenge, that is not the purpose of this endeavor. We must destroy the international cancer of terrorism before it consumes the world and destroys liberty and freedom.
Most importantly, such terminology only plays into the tactics of those on the domestic front who are already trying to undermine public support for this mission. "Seek justice by bringing these people to the World Court in The Hague," wimpers the anti-American Left. "A great nation doesn't seek 'revenge' but works for peace and justice."
Nonsense! This is nothing less than a monumental struggle to protect freedom in the world. The unprovoked and barbaric tactics of the enemies of freedom leave us no other choice but to respond with force. The name of the operation must reflect the true purpose of this war.
Let "freedom" ring.
Personally, I don't care what they call it, just as long as we get the suckers.
Or "Operation Strong Language". How about "Operation O.K., but just don't do it again, please"
Did you ever hear of Operation Overlord? How can that be? There is only one Lord. Nothing man can do can ever "over" the Lord. It's rank blasphemy!
Yet we launched Operation Overlord and the rest, as they say, is history. Offended? Only idiots and our enemies would be offended.
Your mind is ruled by an exceptionally vicious little hobgoblin of foolish consistency.
1) pray for them
2) if they attack you and/or yours, send them to eternity. Post haste.
Sorry, I just had to do a little editing there.
The US has not officially named this war and I personally like Operation Defend Freedom as some others have suggested.
