It’s a private university. NYPD can’t do anything unless called and even then only if told to take action. Columbia is an open campus. So anyone from the crappy neighborhood where is located has access to the grounds. That should stop now.
Given no bail laws, If arrested they will just be let out.

I assume they will be charged with state crimes. I wonder if there will eventually be pressure on the local DA to quietly drop all charges. Or on NY governor Kathy Hochul to issue pardons.

I believe the victim has to cross a state line for it to become a federal crime.
Anyway, if the FBI did get involved, they’d probably only arrest registered Republicans and anyone who has recently attended a church service.
