At the rate these coal and NG powered cars are dropping in sales NJ won't get much in revenue anyway. Added to that the drop-off in sales is on a exponential trajectory anyway - like earthquakes, orders of magnitude LOL.
And since Google acquired Youtube coverage has gotten even worse. I made and posted the below video with a prescient and humorous dialogue, some 13 years ago and was shadowbanned some 50 hours later. They also made the crystal clear video rather grainy, I hate them.
BTW, I was 100% correct but you have to click my 'creator page' for the video:

Watch for Biden and democrats in Washington offer a tax break, or a subsidy to offset the road taxes passed by states and localities. A refund at tax time every year will take care of those road fees.
ICE vehicle owners will be paying for those breaks.

Yeah, just like a bridge toll was always only legislatively passed in a state only until the bridge was paid for.

Oh boo hoo, boo hoo, the silly EV nitwit wants we taxpayers to keep subsidizing him; when there is no good reason we should.

Two things I’d never do:
1. Buy an EV.
2. Live in New Jersey.

That won’t happen until the floodgate opens from Mexico of cheap BYD Chinese EV’s. And that will be the death knell of the US auto industry and the craven Democrat Union workers to build US junk.

This isn’t much different than Illinois. I have an ICE car and recently paid ~$150 for the yearly registration fee. EV owners are hit with an additional $100 tax to make up for the lack of gas taxes.
