There seems to me to be a difference between occupation of vacant property where the "tenant" has taken steps to move in and is presenting LEOs with fake documents, and going to Disney for a week and coming home to find people in your house using your stuff.
In the former case, I can see LEOs saying, "look, go to court and get papers" and in the latter case, LEOs dragging the trespassers out into the street so you don't shoot them first.

If I came home to find squatters inside the house I've lived in since 1964 I would force the back door open and send my dog in even though I would have a lot of cleanup to do.
