You know, it’s almost disorienting when, for the first couple decades of your life, things are one way... and then at a some point a couple decades later, things shift into reverse and are completely *opposite* of what they once were.
Such is the case with the American left and Russia. I grew up in an era in which our leading leftists and liberals were constantly hectoring us, “Why can’t we be friends with the Russians? Why are Cold Warriors like Reagan always poking the Soviet bear? Give peace a chance! You can’t hug your kid with nuclear arms,” yada yada yada. And now it’s the polar opposite. The left demands that we hate Russians, fight the Russians, yada yada yada. It’s like in Orwell’s 1984... Oceania and Eastasia are allies... then Oceania is at war with Eastasia... Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia.
