They are using one of the common methods for assisted suicide, just not death by medication. It's called "inert gas asphyxiation," and they use helium gas bought in tanks at party supply stores. Helium and nitrogen both are inert, both will achieve the same end. You just can't buy tanks of nitrogen at your local party supply store.

They do use a medication with suicide by helium but it's something to reduce anxiety and isn't the cause of death.

Thanks. I think you made some good points. People do get carried away
at times and asfixiate, so I agree with the lack of pain. That does seem
a more humane method. And it should alleviate the “suffering” objection.

I have been dumber on many issues here. This is where I get intelligent views. Like yours. Being from Minnesota, I hate the death penalty. This is the one issue that I disagree most FREE-PERS on.
