As has been the case most of my life, when you see CA doing something, the proper response is “HFS, it’s coming this way!”

Tip of the hat to the California regulation requiring drivers to pull out once they accumulate five cars behind them.

ALL CARS will require being retrofitted OR THIS WON'T WORK!

Need to get away from some CRAZY MO-FO in his 2020 Dodge Challenger in your speed-limited 2027 vehicle? GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!!

Red Barchetta is going to become a documentary, not dystopian fiction.

Wait until someone hacks the system and reduces the speed limit to 10MPH on the freeway.

And I wonder what the default is if the system or the communications system just goes down. I imagine you end up with your vehicle being a paper weight.

But hey Americans will love it.

They will get wins either way

They get their control over cars - win

Sane people move/stay away, they remain secure in power - win

People tell me Idiocracy had this but the old science fiction story The Marching Morons by C.M. Kornbluth had the majority low IQ people given cars with speedometers saying 80-100 mph but the cars were limited to 10-15 mph. They felt thrilled and excited to be driving fast.

Sad this is coming true.

What a Spoilsport. Scott Wiener has gotten some odd and intrusive bills passed in California, usually having to do with LBGT rights. One was for the right to walk through the streets unclothed, anywhere and anytime.

Yes. Every piece of legislation he creates is harmful to citizens. He forced California rules on all towns to create high-density low-income towers along transit corridors without ample parking - in formerly single-family 1 or 2 story residential areas. Towns are powerless to stop it.

Result - no parking for residents, bumper-to-bumper traffic in the area and jammed intersections. It has created chaos not far from where I live.

Needs to be burned like a wiener.
