As for “Ivan’s old stuff”, you do realize the russkies have and successfully deployed hypersonic missiles, right? No Wester country has them or any defense to them.

Moscovian Kinzal missiles are just faster Iskandar ballistic missiles, they are not real hypersonic missiles. They are shot down by Patriot 3 batteries on a regular basis.

“all our new shiny ones got left behind in Afghanistan”

Probably not true. Yes, old and defective gear left behind. One report said we sent used helicopters to Ukraine. Items that Taliban did not have skill or need to try to use. Some figures no doubt referred to older material which had long since been used in fighting. How much of possible use was damaged or destroyed before we left it behind?

“8-1 and 10-1 casualty ratios are pretty well accepted now, even the war mongers have stopped denying it.

They are not quite that high yet. According to recent figures it is around 375,000 Russia, to 70,000 Ukraine, which would be more like 5 or 6 to 1. Before Christmas Russia was losing around 1,000 to 1,200 a day. Recent more careful attacks by Russia have been running 700 to 800 a day. Still much higher than summer figures around 300 to 400 daily.

Oh, I’m sorry, I guess you meant that Ukraine was losing vastly more soldiers. Too bad for all those hopeful Russian wives and mothers that you are wrong. But I guess Putin doesn’t care much about the lives and hearts of his people.

Regarding mines, when Russia accidentally blew up the entire dam on the big river, mines floated all over areas not then fully occupied by Russia and are now being destroyed to reactivate crop fields for Ukraine farmers. Meanwhile, Russia has heavily mined areas it has controlled, which unfortunate Russian soldiers have discovered to their fatal surprise more than once.

I have seen reports/videos that Ukraine is taking the individual bomblets out of the shells and dropping them into trenches and troup groups using small drones. One video showed one bomblet wipe out a crew of 8 Russians.

“No, but I did see the Patriot shoot 32 missiles”

You saw this personally? I’m curious, what variant of the Patriot is it that can launch thirty two missiles at a time?

“This is what MeganC claims on every thread.”

It is not a ‘claim’. I’ve cited appropriations and analysis from the CBO that says the same thing this article said. The facts are there for anyone who wants to go find them. I did.

And I add to it by noting that all of these old systems we sent to Ukraine WERE ALREADY REPLACED and Congress is billing us AGAIN for giving things to Ukraine that in many cases were going to be destroyed as obsolete!

In this much I agree with the Ruzzian propagandists on this site that the US taxpayer is being grifted. But not by Ukraine. By our own Congress.

We do not need to pay for weapons that we’ve already replaced.

So where is all this money going? Because it sure as hell isn’t going to Ukraine.

These US and Russia have both had hypersonic missiles since the late 50s and 60s. They aren’t new.

But sure, Russians fired a couple of their new ones, but they don’t have many and that has nothing to do with the majority of their military equipment. Most of the Russian stuff is plain crap.

One “link” is to a paper magazine that doesn’t exist in online form, another is to a phony site nobody heard about in China.
Also the grounds of criticism are dubious. It is an air-launched quasi-ballistic missile indeed. What is wrong with it?

You have always refused to say what military you served in during your career but you want me to track down the discussion on the Chinese site for you.

Not knowing whose military you retired from explains why you can’t trace out this widely reported Chinese discussion of your Kinzhal missile, one of your own friendly countries.

See post 56, you are the only person in freerepublic history who doesn’t know what military you served in and yet claims to have been a Field Grade officer in it.

And you can’t trace out this widely referenced Chinese discussion about your disappointing missle.
