A range of just 78 miles.... takes hours to charge.
Needs to be pre-heated just to take a charge. Go beyound 80% too much and you have to replace the battery at a huge cost. A car is $15,000 and up so what cost is a bus battery? A quick search find it starts at $50,000!

“Battery capacity and bus range will decline over time.”
-snip- “less energy can be pulled out of the battery when it is cold, meaning the bus range will be up to 30% shorter on the coldest winter days.”
-snip- If a school
bus travels 12,000 miles per year, fuel cost savings would be $1,700 to $2,600 per year as compared to diesel
https://dec.vermont.gov/sites/dec/files/aqc/mobile-sources/documents/eBus_Pilot_FAQ_20190812.pdf

They spend a MILLION dollars to save $1,700 in a year...!

A diesel bus gets about 6 to 8mpg so about 10 gallons for the same distance. Less then 5 minutes to fill up.
A 60 gallon tank maybe 20 minutes to fill up. Good for the whole day. No “range anxiety”.
Plus the bus will be heated in the winter or cooled in the summer. Plenty of spare parts available too.

That part of the repair manual - door replacement - was destroyed by __________.

But the part about replacing the batteries, motors, electronics, is still available.

Make the switch, boys.

I work in Real Estate. My broker handles foreclosures for Fannie mae and Freddie mac. Basically FHA foreclosures.

We are in a poor area. Best I can tell, the genius directors have decided, instead of recouping the governments losses, that they are gonna revive these failed communities. In this case the Mill Village. So, my broker goes to this old broken down POS house. He tells property managers the house is worth 9,000. So they decide “well we’re gonna fix it up” so they spend 160,000 on reno. It’s now listed for 105,0000. Got a 1998 model trailer they spent ungodly money on. It’s now listed at 165000. Real worth? Maybe....50,000? Plenty of other examples....

Our government money at work....

Your example is sadly one of many, many that I have heard -- and some seen with my own "lyin' eyes."

This mass delusion in Dems and RINOs will go on until failure is the only remaining option.

I’m more inclined to think these are clueless bureaucrats who have no concept of using our vast informational resources to find alternative parts & service. Anyone who has owned a classic car or bike is resourceful enough to get these busses moving. I had a 1972 Dodge Demon (bought new) that we drove every day as our regular car for 35 years. These putzes could get these busses moving.

I think they have realized these busses aren’t worth crap for their intended purpose and figure letting them rot is the best alternative. They thought they could just plug them in every day and that was all there was to keeping them on the road. Not that they will have learned any lessons from this cluster fark.
