The Civil War was about secession. Secession was about slavery.

A myth we have all be3en taught but which doesn't stand up to the light of scrutiny.

The Corwin amendment alone proves that slavery had nothing to do with why the North invaded the South.

The real reason was money. Specifically 700 million per year in trade with Southern goods that the North controlled and wanted to continue controlling.

Had the South just wanted "slavery", they would have taken the Crowin amendment deal. What they wanted was to control their own economy and control their own trade.

This wasn’t an appearance before a university review board to defend a doctoral dissertation. It was a stupid town hall forum where the questions and answers are supposed to be POLITICAL.

1. Her answer was nonsensical from a historical/factual standpoint.

2. Any Republican presidential candidate who didn’t see this as a glorious opportunity to state that (A) the Republican Party was founded as an anti-slavery political party, and (B) they saw it as their mission to stop Democrats from keeping slaves … is too ‘effing stupid to be out in public alone.

3. This is the same dingbat who made a point of removing the Confederate flag from the South Carolina Capitol. She botched an answer like this after THAT pathetic episode of political pandering?

Instead of attacking the Confederate flag again Nikki decided to thread the needle; it didn't work.

Nikki has problems: real southerners - there are still a few left - don't like her and in some jurisdictions a few thousand votes could cost her an election; liberals like her only to the extent she can harm Trump; and while she is wily, she is not very smart.

On the plus side for her, RINOs love her.

It was Democrat Governor Fritz Hollings that put up the flag on the State House in 1962 for the Civil War Centennial. I believe Haley had it removed from the building, to a spot down in front of the State House, then had it totally removed from State grounds after the church shooting in S.C.

As if Nikki Haley was even eligible in the first place, she self-disqualified herself with her first answer on the Civil War, and now a second time blaming someone else for her hairbrained/half-assed answer.

Nikki Haley is hereby dismissed from the Republican Presidential Primaries.
