The facts are that Romney is no Reagan and no Conservative and in no position to point dirty fingers at anyone in the GOP. The facts are Romney was registered as an idependent in Massachusettes and only registered as a Republican because upon looking at the electoral prospects of challenging Ted Kennedy for his U.S. Senate seat Romney saw he could not win in a Democratic party primary, so he registered and ran as a Rpublican instead. That began Romney’s “Republican” carreer. [and, oh, he lost that race with Ted Kennedy]

However, in general, I think yes, Reagan was more Conervative and less poppulist and Trump is the reverse - more populist and less Conservative.

Bull sh- poop. The Trumpsters believe in the Constitution. That's (one reason) why the Romneyites the leftists and the Deep State in general hate them and why they have sabotaged everything Trump has wanted to do from the beginning.

Reagan had four well known principles for involving the U.S. in a foreign war.

“Reagan Rule 1: The United States should not commit its forces to military actions overseas unless the cause is vital to our national interest.

Reagan Rule 2: If the decision is made to commit our forces to combat abroad, it must be done with the clear intent and support to win. It should not be a halfway or tentative commitment, and there must be clearly defined and realistic objectives.

Reagan Rule 3: Before we commit our troops to combat, there must be reasonable assurance that the cause we are fighting for and the actions we take will have the support of the American people and Congress. (We felt that the Vietnam War had turned into such a tragedy because military action had been undertaken without sufficient assurances that the American people were behind it.)

Reagan Rule 4: Even after all these other tests are met, our troops should be committed to combat only as a last resort, when no other choice is available.“

-see https://spectator.org/54948_reagans-rules-military-action/ (and of course President Reagan’s autobiography.

Of course, US involvement in the Russia-Ukraine War is publicly comprised of supplying Ukraine with large quantities of US ordnance and other supplies. Reagan’s Rules and the Powell Doctrine may not be as square on applicable in the current war.

Yes. Peggy Noonan was the speech writer who came up with "a thousand points of light."

She also came up with "a kinder, gentler nation."

I prefer Trump’s approach to immigration over Reagan’s. Amnesty for illegals ... pffft!
