Yes, "bad things" are going to happen. I'm pretty sure we don't have more than about a year or so however. When you actually look at the economic situation Russia and China are in right now I believe the tshtf very soon indeed. If you want some great insights on China for instance, I would recommend "The China Show" with Laowhy86 and SerpentZA. They both lived in China for over 10 years and are married to Chinese ladies. They also speak fluent Chinese.

True about the American way of thinking. However, it’s possible for an immigrant to get close to that point as well. The immigrant must make a 100% effort to assimilate. AND the government must make it difficult to do otherwise. Then time will do its trick.
No printing of government forms in 20 different languages. English only. No celebration of foreign holidays in schools. American holidays only. Teach traditional American values. Learn about Davy Crockett at the Alamo, for example.
Unfortunately, today we are doing everything we can to stop immigrants from assimilating. No American culture now. Instead 20 different cultures.
