NGOs have spread the word in many third world countries that if people can reach the US, their lives will be heavenly compared to what they now experience.

I once read that third world countries use illegal transport of human beings to rid their countries of the people who are the most dissatisfied with the living conditions. By getting rid of the most dissatisfied, they get rid of the greatest threats to their corrupt governments. The people who are not unhappy enough to sell themselves to coyotes generally aren’t going to start a revolution.
