And yet in the county map— Harlan County which is a “moist” county (Dry in the county with a Wet largest city of Cumberland, some 2k people)— went 66% for Cameron. Harlan being the site of the Harlan County War in the coal mines, miners and miners unions vs. owners. Harlan County went 85% for Trump in 2020.

Perry County, KY went 55% for Beshears, 44 % Cameron in vote numbers 600 fewer for Cameron. A county that went 76% for Trump in 2020.

As the song goes “It’s a long way to Harlan, a long way to Hazard... just to get a little brew”... Roll on Buddy.

What is bizarre is that the governor's race had 31,294 more votes than the average of all the other statewide races.

There were 1,321,335 votes in the Governor's race.

There were 1,296,774 votes in the Attorney General's race.

There were 1,295,178 votes in the Secretary of State's race.

There were 1,288,478 votes in the State Auditor's race.

There were 1,284,478 votes in the State Treasurer's race.

There were 1,285,327 votes in the Agriculture Commissioner's race.

The number of votes in the Governor's race is over 6 standard deviations above the mean of the other statewide races.

An interesting test will be to look at the relationships you listed at a finer level.

Harvested ballots often just have votes for the candidate or candidates that the harvesters are interested in.

Looking at those relationships for absentee vs. in person ballots should also be interesting.

Another Freeper astutely noted the highly myopic voter base in Kentucky earlier today. The slogan of the state's average Republican voter would be: "God, Guns and Food Stamps".

Sounds like that describes eastern Kentucky to a T.

Reminds me of the breakdown of New York State's counties in all elections. The majority are red counties, with a handful of blue cities, like Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, NY City, and its surrounding counties, but our State Legislature is 3-1 Democratic majority.

I just ran the numbers and don't see too much differentiation.

Absentee votes for Governor were 5.6 standard deviations above the mean for the other absentee votes.

In-person votes for Governor were 6.5 standard deviations above the mean for the other absentee votes.
