How about making this a loan to Israel instead of a grant? I wonder if this has even been considered. Probably not. This reminds me of when Trump brings up discussions he had with Abe and other world leaders. He would ask them why they’re not reciprocating on trade deals, etc. Their answers were usually - “because nobody ever asked”.
I’m all for selling arms to Israel to replenish their stocks, especially since Iran is funding Hamas. But direct grants to any foreign nation, should be rare and reserved for only extreme cases of financial hardship.

The dems who voted yes did so due to their constituency, with the blessing of the dems. Why? They were not going to defeat this anyways looking at the numbers, so leadership lets them vote yes to placate the voters in those dems districts.
