I don’t agree with them but I respect their opinion.
There is logic in their thinking.

Fair point however it does offset by the cutting funds to the rat goon squad at the IRS.

The economy is growing very rapidly.

Taxes are low by any measure in the US.

The rest of your complaints are about spending, and I am with you on that. But that’s not what we are talking about. We are talking about funding the IRS so that the existing tax laws can be enforced. I back the Blue! Law and Order! Collect those taxes!

I back the Blue! Law and Order! Collect those taxes!

I don't. So, there is that.

But you do you. I would not presume to change what you believe.

I see all of the "growth" in the economy as due to inflation. It is an illusion, and not a very clever one either. The prices for everything keep rising faster than the income from any honest employment. Grifters on government contracts may do quite well in the liquidation economy that we currently have. Everybody else is falling behind.

The only growth sectors for employment are in government bureaucracy and healthcare administration jobs. These are not terribly productive activities, and even their incomes are not keeping up with inflation.

I grant you that taxes in the US are comparatively low when you look at Europe. My former European colleagues were typically paying over 50% income taxes plus that universal 20% value-added tax on everything they bought. And their gross annual salaries were barely half of my American salary. They did love their 8-12 weeks of paid vacation every year. And why not? It wasn't really worthwhile for them to work any more hours than they did.

The only people who really hustled were all into crime of some variety.

Sure, things could be a lot worse. And they are going to be. You might have noticed that Europe is having a lot of troubles recently.

The government is not losing tax revenues because of unenforced tax laws. It is losing revenue because the productive side of the economy is a hollowed-out illusion in serious decline from bad government policies.

And about 48% of the population legally pays net zero taxes (after including offsetting government benefits). There is not much left to squeeze.

They are coming after what is left of the middle class who still have assets. They must lie about what they are doing to distract opposition. ("The new laws will only affect rich people with more than $400,000 year incomes"). As for the rest of the people - "You will own nothing and be happy".

This will go very badly.

$688 billion underpayment last year. This is people breaking the law. You don’t care, nevertheless it is true.

GDP figures are adjusted for inflation, a statistic called “Real GDP.”

You are correct. I don't care.

That $688 billion "underpayment" is an estimate, meaning they just made up a number to suite an agenda. The agenda is "Squeeze more money from people who cannot afford the lawyers to successfully resist the IRS."

From the article:"#3. The IRS will need to target small business "

The government always "needs" more money. They have all those cronies to pay off. Their policy is "F*** you, pay me." I have lost all sympathy.

When I see the massive tax violations and other legal violations committed by the Biden criminal family organization get swept under the rug, I don't much care about the small businessman taking a few questionable deductions.

When I see my Congressman increase his family wealth by over 100 million dollars while in office, through legalized insider trading that would put me in jail if I participated it it, I am unimpressed with "laws" that grant such exemptions.

When I see A.O.C go from a bartender's salary to a reported net worth of 29 million dollars after six years from being "elected" to Congress, I don't get upset about any violations of the "tax laws".

They are clearly "suggestions" rather than "laws" and they only apply to little people. People like you and me.

What we have is "pretense of law". The Democrats, and their junior partners in the Republican party created this system for their own benefit at our expense.

It is past time to unwind that system. How about a return to "rule of law", applied equally to all citizens?

No, we do not need 87,000 armed IRS agents harassing and terrorizing small business owners.

a hard right proposal that will raise the deficit

This statement is hilarious, and I believe even comes from the CBO. How much "profit" over the cost of new IRS agents do they expect to get from cheaters that will be a significant deficit reducer?

GDP figures are adjusted for inflation, a statistic called “Real GDP.”

"Real Inflation" is not 3%. It is more like 15%-20% - unless you exclude everything that people actually need to buy. The "Real GDP" is correspondingly distorted.

"Figures don't lie, but liars can figure." (Proverbial)

Our government officials can be counted upon to lie when a truth is inconvenient for them. Some of the top officials seem to lie for sport, just to keep in practice. They cannot be trusted. "Qui Bono?" is the best we can do to analyze their statements.

I do not believe they even care about that.

87,000 armed IRS agents can be used to swiftly identify and eliminate any small businessmen or independent tradesmen who are seen as opposition to the regime in power.

Because F*** 'em, they don't vote for Democrats anyway. Let's take their money.

"The power to tax is the power to destroy". (attributed to Chief Justice John Marshall, Attorney Daniel Webster)

I have seen the weapons training classes provided to some of the new IRS recruits. Those trainees should not be allowed to carry sharp pencils or scissors.

Cut that agency funding back to what it was. It is a nasty trick to include that measure in the Israeli war funding bill, but the Democrats did stuff like that all the time with their "Omnibus" bills".

Payback is a bitch.

Later on, introduce another stand-alone, single-topic bill to fund normal IRS operations. Let's have a real debate about how much IRS we can stand, and how we want it to operate.

Even later, introduce another stand-alone bill to revise and simplify the tax codes. "Everybody commits three felonies a day" under the current system. Time for that to change.

Of course not, but that is the rationale they are using to veto or not take up the House Bill.

That is a distinct possibility FRiend, but I sure hope the Senate soon finds itself between the proverbial rock, and a hard place.
After all, with the Whitehouse saying it will veto it, maybe the Senate will pass the buck on over to Old Joe ;)
What a self-serving bunch they are...

Even though their majority in the Senate is slim, the Demon party knows they can count on a handful of Assistant Demons to hold the line. Milquetoast Romney, Mookowsky and one or two others depending on who is up for reelection. They won’t let a thing land on slow Joe’s desk that doesn’t make him look like the second coming of George Washington.

Calling that bunch self serving wh@res is a disservice to actual self serving wh@res.

Nope, just a red-blooded American here who’s sick and tired of meddling in other countries’ affairs.

You may not be interested in other countries' affairs. Other countries are very interested in meddling in our affairs.

Biden looks out for other countries far more than for us.

Iran, China, Russia, and others all want America destroyed.

The world is far, far, smaller now than it was in 1800. The oceans are not nearly the shield they once were.

Our first war as a Constitutional republic was an undeclared foreign war against muslims.

When Palestinians get kicked out of 109 nations let me know. Their land to begin with.
Palestinians have only existed since 1948. And they've been kicked out of Kuwait and are under apartheid conditions in Arab countries, who weaponize them, but don't trust them.
And the 109 countries is an antisemitic lie about Jews. Every day, you out yourself as an antisemite.

Israel's narrative is crumbling. It's not so much as vocalizing support for Hamas, but a lot of people now understand the dynamics of Israel and the Palestinians thanks to outlets like Tik-Tok and the de-liberalizing of Twitter (X) now.
In other words, idiots are being programmed by Chinese Communist and KGB Russian propoganda and lies.
