Welcome to the club A-holes. Month after month after month you government people have a
negative impact on the lives of normal Americans. Year after year. I hope you losers suffer.

Shut 'em down!

I can only think of a handful of gubmint roles that are essential for this country to function.

Military/security related jobs....and a lot of those I may call into question.

We could do without the following departments and not miss a beat:

Education

Commerce

HEW

HUD

USDA

LABOR.

And I'm sure there's a whole bunch more.

D.C. has a lot of federal workers.

Yeah and about 50% aren’t needed duplicate departments all over the place.

We need to keep the Navy to preserve the global trade. But we need to dismantle the military industrial complex so we need to downsize the Army and the Marine Corps. Not get rid of them, but maybe reduce it by 80%.

In the past there were news photos of federal workers looking angry and carrying protest signs during a shutdown in DC. The signs said they would remember this in the next election.

I’m sure since that time there have been many more hires.
Also, there are federal employees all over the place.
I doubt they are enough to swing any elections, though.
Just annoying. Plus all of them got their back pay later.

Actually the people who should feel the effects of the shutdown are those responsible for it and it’s not the FedGov workers! The Fed worker makes no decisions about this. It’s Congress and their staff. Their pay, perks and privileges should be suspended until they pass a budget, not a CR but an actual budget as the Constitution requires.

Having gone through several “shutdowns” it has been my experience that essential employees have to work any way. and the non essential employees get free time off an never messed a paycheck.

I am a retired Federal employee. The employees are paid, just paid later. I received notices from my bank on options for short term loans. Places know the Federal employees will get their money, just later. I am surprised how many Federal employees do not keep emergency funds.

When the District of Corruption finally becomes a state it should be mandatory that all stars on their flag be replaced with $ signs.

CRY ME A RIVER.

OF I WERE IN CHARGE——

I WOULD PERFORM A SERIOUS AUDIT OF THE JOBS IN THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.

Pretty sure I could CUT OUT at least 50%.

Odd enough, that won’t have much an impact unless we take on the entitlements and defense.

Military personnel have to keep showing up for work. I have never seen military pay stopped. In addition, VA benefits are unaffected. VA hospitals and clinics will remain open as usual.

The DoD civilians are not allowed to go to work. They are forced to take vacation. They might not get paid during the shutdown, but will receive back pay when it’s over.

In short, shutdowns are always more of an inconvenience than a hardship.

But, to the left, they are a reason to start screaming that the sky is falling and the country will disintegrate. The Democrats will not allow any spending cuts. They won’t even allow spending increases to be cut. And the Republicans can’t do a lot about it. Their only tool, government “shut down,” doesn’t work. Spending just keeps skyrocketing.

This is why voting on performance and qualifications is so important. Leftists only vote on emotion, never qualifications.
