The soviets were happy with 30 rounds in the AK-47 and 50 in a stick magazine for the pps-41/43. The 75 round drum mags for the pps tended to jam too often.

If I may be so bold, for the price of a 60 round drum I might recommend a couple of Gen 2, or 3 30 rd Magpul PMags, and almost enough ammunition to fill those magazines. D&H makes aluminum GI magazines that are pretty good as well Wow thanks for the advice. I'm a bit of a novice and was considering this from Radical Firearms. Entry level I know but price is right and has good reviews...any thoughts on the topic?

I can’t speak to anything Radical Firearms produces; my advice is get a few extra magazines, a sling, some ammunition, and get to know the rifle before you start bolting a bunch of stuff to it. This is what I wish I knew when I purchased my first rifle 25 years ago.

So? In 1860 the Henry lever action rifle held 16 shots!
And the Evans lever action rifle held 26 shots!
The only reason a semi-auto rifle was not made earlier was everything was fouling Black Powder.
I still like these Remingtons from 1906! That is 116 years ago!
