In the sixties the Korean Marijuana smuglers working the U.S. troops had a really ingenous system.

To buy American made cigarettes in Korea they had to be imported and had to have all the right stamps on the plastic covering a carton or a pack. The Korean Marijuana smugllers became experts at duplicating those stamps.

Then they would buy the American made cigaretts on the black market, carefully empty the tobacco out of the cigarette, refill it with Marijuana and get all the packs and cartons resealed with all the eactly right official stamps.

Knowing they did not pass through official customs bording the planes home, whether in Korea or when they arrived home, G.I.s would leave with as many cartons of “American cigarettes” under their arm as they were allowed to carry.

I knew a few guys who did it.
