Big ass storm.
I’m spending this weekend in a cabin in the woods of Maine with a herd of nerds. Saturday could be interesting.
Bring flashlights, extra batteries, battery backups, extra snacks and bottled water (nerd stuff). Note distance between trees and the cabin.
Drama. Looks like folks are having killer-storm withdrawal.
When was the last time New England got a direct hit from a big one? As a kid in 1960 I can remember the eye of Donna going right over us, just 20 miles west of Boston, and there was Carol in 1954. My parents of course remembered 1938 like it was yesterday, and our woods were still full of the remains of blowdowns from that storm.
Since then I can’t recall a single one. Lots went by offshore as “remnants” or “tropical storms”, just like this one will.
Hurricane Bob? How soon they forget...
Right. And I was living in Rhode Island then, but it wasn't intense enough to make an impression, I guess.
It wasn’t memorable, to say the least.
Wonder what a storm surge would do in Bay of Fundy NB at high tide?
They shouldn’t have delayed building all those whale friendly, offshore windmills. Think of all the megawatts of power they’re going to miss generating. /s
I’m rooting for it to take out Provincetown, MA
I remember the 1938 hurricane………I was 5 years old and still remember the sound of the howling wind. .
….
This thing was huge as a five, 40’ plus waves, dont wanna get caught in one of those.I was fishing Sunday and we had 6’ freighter wakes and they got your attention.I can only imagine being in any kind of a boat with a 40 footer coming at you.
Steering seems weak as far as landfall goes.
The wind field is massive—hurricane force winds out 105 miles from the center. TS storm winds extend outward 290 MI from the center.
That’s definitely huge!
I wonder what kind of building codes they have up there.
Next Massachusetts Building Code Will Relax Some Wind Provisions
Bar Harbor, ME looks like 102 mph.
That would be fine, but from there I hope it goes to Kennebunk to visit a person I know, the most arrogant and dishonest liberal imaginable, a multi-millionaire on big pharma money (his wife's job, he's a house husband). They recently built a million dollar home there. It would be so nice if Lee dropped a tornado right on his doorstep.
likely a mistake.
