The long-running festival celebrates the history and culture of the East African nation, but both organizers and police say they were aware of the potential for violence. Other Eritrean festivals in Europe, the United States and Toronto this year were marked by clashes involving blue-shirted protesters opposing the Eritrean government.

Ya’ know, I do wonder what the birth rate in Canada is for Canadians whose families have been in the US or Canada a couple generations or more? Heck, throw in the Filipinos, native Europeans, etc.
I’ll bet that the discouragement of the “native” population having kids is a big part of Canada needing wholesale immigrantion.
Nothing against sensible immigration either! My wife is a Filipino and a valuable / contributing member of our community. Maybe more so than me, these days!
