The hype will far exceed what the weather will bring. ‘Hillary’ has already been downgraded from 4 to 3 and I suspect it will be downgraded again before landfall.
“Orders evacuations?”
Yep, government nannies telling people what to do. Media allies spreading hysteria to add to fear-based compliance.
And yes, they do seem to miss the positive element. Rain, lots of rain. Hopefully every reservoir in the path or downstream of the storm could be filled. LA should be able to handle any amount of rain, Vegas probably the same. I’m sure across the region there will be areas that are flood prone but on the overall note, this should be seen as positive, the winds are going to be nothing at this point.
Well, I guess solar power generation will be impacted, so maybe Newsom should ask electric car drivers to stop charging their cars.
Sunday morning seven am. Looks like moderate dew moisture on the ground.
Hurricane force winds of zero miles per hour presently. (In truth it’s not hurricane force winds.)
It may kick up later. I’m expecting a big fizzle out of this, but maybe I’m wrong.
We’ll see.
“The state has prepared water rescue teams, California National Guard personnel and flood fighting equipment ahead of Hilary’s arrival, officials said.”
How many suicides are they expecting?
The storm has fizzled for us in Arizona where we were goung to get our years worth of rain in one storm. We measured 0.57" of rain.
The benefit was a nice cool day or two before we go back into the 100's. It is August in Arizona after all a fact the climate doom sayers apparently choose to ignore while looking for their worst ever recorded records.
We’re now up to 13 hours of steady rain…light to moderate but falling steadily without any breaks. Never rains here like that. And no wind whatsoever, we never get rain without wind. Sopped in - low clouds, like an English fog on the moors. No flooding yet that I can see around me, but it’s raining in such a manner that the ground than can absorb it certainly will. Just steady easy rain, quite pleasant, if soggy as all get out. 67 degrees.
I hope SoCal gets washed away. It needs a good cleaning.
Correction:
“...panic looting sweeps stores...”
An Emergency should be declared BECAUSE NEWSOM IS GOVERNOR.
They're expecting apocalyptic rains, so they're buying water. Brilliant.
Storm going right over the Rio Grande & many acres of it’s watershed.
WATER still runs downhill.
You’re hilarious!
More important is the dust — it acts as the seed around which the moisture collects to make droplets. Put that up high enough and you can get rain almost anywhere.
That’s great news for Lake Mead and the Colorado river. Hurray for Hilary!
Storm moving fast, in Baja now.
San Diego by 500 pm ... headed for Nye County
Why do I keep thinking this is going to be a dud of a storm?
