Somehow, I don’t think this version of defunding the police in a small 1000 population town is going to lead to a looting and shoplifting epidemic at the local bait store. Minneapolis, on the other hand, has the combustible demographics to do just that
We have a pop of 7,000, and the officers are appreciated, especially as more Memphis criminals move this way. No speed traps, usually a warning to slow down if just 5 over, school zones are exceptions. They park a car there.
I did not look but I bet ellen is black. How’d I do?
One Goodhue City council member praised the police force for maintaining law and order in the town of Goodhue. “I can probably speak for everyone when I say that they provided excellent safety and security to our community. And the small town policing that they did, we want that back.”
I have no time for anyone who thinks the job of the police is to provide “safety and security.” That’s the kind of thing you hear from simpering, effete men and middle-aged Karens who have a thousand-year supply of facemasks in the basement.
Much easier to recruit an FIB agent to protect the deep state.
Goodhue County Sheriff’s dept has run things for years.
This town was a little Mayberry. Barnie don’t do cop work no more... hahah. Those Goodhue cops just drank a lot of coffee and and binged on donuts.
Good story though.
That was Ludiwici, Georgia. If you lived in the eastern part of the state you knew to avoid the town all together, or if you had no choice, drive through about 5 miles under the speed limit and expect the town’s one stop light to change to red just as you hit the white stripe on the pavement. You coasted through that light with your foot on the brake.
IIRC, the town has a population of about 1,000 people.
It likely can’t afford much, and not just in terms if salaries and bennies. They’re insurance, liability...
Seems to me it would make more financial sense to ensure they were covered by the county sheriff.
