What ever happened to the protestors that used to camp out at the Mercury exit on U.S. 95? I used to drive that stretch fairly often in the 80s and 90s, and there always seemed to be some scruffy losers huddled alongside the road there. Then I didn’t go up that way for some years, and the next time I did, they were gone.

Disney net worth after obligations is about 100 billion. They will probably lose only about 1 billion this year in movies alone. If their business and stock value continues to drop...they could sell off all their stuff and on a 5% cd account make 5 billion a year. If they lose more than 5 billion a year would it be worth to continue running a business, when they could make 5 billion a year doing nothing?
Average cost per day for family of 4 to stay at disney world for 5 days is about 1,000 a day. Knock off 5 million day visits equivalent per year and we are talking about killing the mouse. Back in the 80’s hollywood types would come out and protest, including some of the Baywatch girls. The last time I went to the site for a non nuclear mattter, in 2000 there were only a few scruffy old hippies. I asked the gate guard “what’s up with that?”. He shrugged and said “Cutbacks everywhere.”
Well, the ones I saw sure weren’t Baywatch girls.
