The little mermaid has made $542 million from its theatrical run so far
https://www.boxofficemojo.com/release/rl1913750273/
On a budget of $250 million.
So it has broken even before it goes to streaming
No it hasn’t
It cost 250 to produce and another 200-300 marketing
The studio gets about 60% od ticket sales
The movie has not been profitable
And Disney was never very popular in world’s largest movie market, India, which is now the most populous country on earth. Bollywood is cranking out movies like crazy.
I think I read it has to male 750 M to break even.
Break-even for Mermaid is estimated at 600+ million. It might make that, but it won’t bring in the kind of profit one invests $250 million in production and 100+ million in ads and support to get.
Top Gun was a huge hit. Tom Cruise stayed with a proven formula.
I’ll take a Shah Ru Khan movie anyway of the week over Hollywood.
You can push people just so far. At some point they simply
signify ENOUGH!
Disney thought it could get away with anything. Guess what?
Wrong. People are sick of the games.
Either you want to be a wholesome middle class serving company, or
you don’t.
Disney don’t.
I can see why it hasn’t.
Good for him.
Read the entire article and not a single mention of the elephant in the room.
Disney has gone woke, and people are tired of it.
Yep
I enjoyed Iron Man. Haven't seen any of the recent Disney movies.
Correct!
Amen!
CEO Bob Iger and Kathleen Kennedy still have their jobs.... Why?
That’s gross sales. The article I looked up said the producers get 55%, or about $300 million. That’s a big difference from $542 million.
Thanks…
25 years ago Rush ( Rest in Piece) warned us about Disney and it’s Pedophilia ties. I would never take my kids there then and now here we are. Rush was right as always. God, i miss him.
