My 5 year old niece fell from that same waterfall. She had a depressed skull fracture and was in a coma for a week.
This was back in the 1960s. She made a full recovery although she still has part of a metal plate in her skull.
The pool at the base is very shallow so you're hitting more rock than water. Good to hear she came through OK. Obviously it could've been much worse.
That area was a popular hang out during '70s high school years.
Skiing was open in Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley all weekend
The problem that they have is small big burst storms that wash down canyons and people hiking along rivers get washed away when it isn’t even raining much near them.
