Admittedly harsh, but true: To preserve a civil society, sooner or later, when it comes to the “wet-ass” hour, the bums, the addicts, the mentally ill living on the streets will have to be removed forcibly. Humanitarily if possible, but that’s not always an option. They are simply not going to “remove” themselves.

I’m on the Oregon coast. The area of town that attracted the vast majority of the homeless had a big crime problem...theft, arson. The local lefties could have given a damn, until one of them left a party in that part of town, late one night, and noticed some people walking a patrol with AR-15s.

**********

Funny how that works.

I’m in a AR-15 or pro 2nd Amendment county.(Yamhill)
Haven’t noticed any real increases in crime, but my buddies and I are preparing accordingly.

If Multnomah pushes the dregs out, the dregs will continue to move into Washington County, where they already have a noticeable presence.

One of the most disturbing things about the homeless, is what a local cop told me the other day.
He said these outside left-wing groups are pressuring the police to not enforce laws against the homeless.

“The situation will only get worse in the near term.”

Can’t we just give them some state that nobody is using such as Connecticut and let them live there?

Yes. Send them to camps far removed from the city, far removed from liquor stores and drug dealers.

Portland is likely shipping them out, already. I know that Coos County is the recipient of many. We have a facility that enables the homeless. The internet has given that community a good network for communication.

Coos is generally pro-2A, but we have our share of subversives...uhh...progressives, that would like to change that. Jail funding is always an issue, so minor crimes are “catch-and-release.” The homeless are just one of tools that the left use to leverage their insanity into policy.

I spent a good deal of time during The Summer of Covid fishing in a local park. Quite a few homeless, of varying degrees of criminality stayed there. Some just wanted a place to be during the day. Some were opportunistic thieves...cruise neighborhoods at night, stealing bikes, or anything else. I recall one character in particular that fancied himself a Robin Hood. Exhaustion forced him to fall asleep one day, and others stole everything he had on him. Had to laugh.

So where are these homeless losers going to go if banned in the daytime?

Somewhere else.

Having to strike camp every morning is a mighty PITA. They will find a more hospitable city, if it is really enforced.

But the new problem is going to be people living in cars -- non-running junk cars will proliferate greatly.

Just arrest all vagrants, keep them in for 72 hours. Rinse and repeat, until they move on from your jurisdiction. Let them go to California, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Nevada or AZ. Governments built this problem by allowing and encouraging the practice of street living. They made drug usage and trafficking a misdemeanor. Open air sales of alcohol, drugs and sex, and current and former elected officials are making beaucoup bucks “helping”.

I remember in Seattle, they started by raiding Motels that were full of addicts, drunks and hookers. They forced owners out, purchased the motels and remodeled them, then moved in the people they kicked out. This time though, government and NGO’s were making money from the same activity that got the places closed down previously.

It’s not so much how this won’t (can’t?) work as it is how spectacularly it will fail. I wish I held the popcorn concession...

Antifa doesn’t want to trip over homeless camps as they burn and loot.

Wouldn’t it just be easier if they gave all these bums $100 and a free bus ticket to San Francisco? It doesn’t rain as much there and there are lots of drugs.

Hiring druggies to pose as social workers?
