The government has encouraged sprawl ever since 1945. It’s been public policy driving this. The GI bill ensured this; it required every home to be stand-alone or no loan. Thus the suburbs.

In other countries it is opposite. The middle of the city receives the most money and suburbs are where the poor people live. Believe me there are suburbs of Paris that are truly frightening.

America for a time was like that, people wanted to be where all the dining, entertainment and jobs were. Then again at that time America was a civilized country.

The place I live was once a beautiful, wealthy city. People wanted to come here but no more.

I know. I’ve lived in several countries in Europe where its the opposite. The city center is nice and the dangerous/poor areas are in the suburbs.

Generally though, we have the land to spread out. So we have. Thus public transportation just doesn’t make sense for us.

it will cost between $88 billion and $128 billion to complete the entire system from LA to San Francisco.

Hey, is that train colored yellow and blue?

Put Zelensky in charge of it.

Cheaper than Ukraine.

Maybe a better chance of success.

And a better chance of graft.

Has one rider rode the train to somewhere yet?

Well, you asked.

So I will tell you,

It was Diane Feinstein, on her trip back to DC.

She is giving out free passes.

Fetterman got the first one, but had to debate Joe for it.

Joe lost, and got the second.

About 350 mile drive. 500 million dollars per mile of train to save 3 hours of drive time... Except the time you have to drive to the train station, unload the car, get to the destination, find a rental car, go to your destination, then rinse and repeat to go home.

You must be “Logicphobic”.

Divide the cost by cost of A/C flights.

You could give a LOT of free air flights for that $.

Thanks.

If I show up at a Senate hearing (on either side of the dais), and sound like Fetterman, please shoot me.

They started in the central valley, you drive up the 99 to sac you can see the unfinished pilings raised for the track at Modesto I think. Going south to Bakersfield. Never be finished and no one cares
