How much longer before he wants to move to a different job?
Two Taco Bell boxes - $20+ with large drinks
Wow - I was a bit surprised a couple of days ago
They were the only burger joint I went to. Bowl of chili, baked potato, and 2 side salads was my typical lunch for a couple years.
Bojangles has gotten really high recently.
I used to go with the chili and baked potato a lot, but now they got chili cheese fries and I just can’t resist :)
Went to Wendy’s about 5 months ago - $25-27 - basically two burgers, fries and drinks - maybe a Frosty too
3 years ago - Chik-fil-A for a meal for two and some extra items was $42 or $43
Then the CEO seemed to go stupid so I decided I can spend my money elsewhere
Best deal I get on food these days is ......... McDonald’s LOL (using their coupon on the receipt)
I like a Popeye’s chicken sandwich - it was about $5 or so
On a 6 week road trip I got so sick of all the flour eating at burger joints. I found Wendy’s the best. They had $7 salads-good size. Add their pretty good chili and it separates from the others. I couldn’t understand why I couldn’t get gumbo at Popeye’s.
absolutely the ONLY fast food we ever buy is Wendy’s family-sized chili ...
I often go for a Wendy’s chili and a baked potato
I just baked 5lbs of potatoes overnight - Russet (WalMart) - $3.77 plus tax for 5lbs though I should have bought 10lbs.
400 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes (started timer after I set oven to preheat) - so basically about an 1 hour 5 minutes of cook time).
Had leftover peppers and onions I put to the side from Mexican restaurant - pan-fried (again) with about a half stick of butter and drizzled over the potatoes (seasoned with salt, paprika, sea salt, and a bit of vegetable oil over the potato skins - plus about 1/2+ cup of water in the Dutch Oven pan (no top).
Now I have food for several days - plus I have some leftover sour cream and mild salsa for dipping.
Other than leftovers, less than $5 ingredients.
If you have a Home Depot near you tell your daughter to apply on line there, I work there part time they hire a lot of first time job seekers AND senior citizens!! They don’t call for an interview just keep checking email they do large group orientations it is quite amazing but the the bad people weed themselves out!! Out of the 20 people in my orientation group I am the only one still working there!! Home Depot gives EVERYONE a shot at the job if you are willing to work hard you will stay put! I LOVE my job there pay is GREAT AND they are AMAZINGLY good to their team members!!!
The restaurant business always ends up being a 60+ hour work week in a managerial position!! I spent my life in the business, manager, regional manager, owner, you have to REALLY have a passion for the business to stay!! You can move up the ladder VERY QUICKLY if you work hard, BUT it is VERY HARD WORK!!
My father (God rest his soul) had applied to McDonald’s when he was a senior
Nothing.
So I took him in. Asked for a manager. Asked if they had jobs available. She said yes and offered an application. I said, well, not for me, I have a job but my father here applied and no one called him. He got called the next day and he was one of the best workers they ever had.
In fact he worked two restaurants side-by-side for extra money. Boy did he lost a lot of weight too.
I suggest walking in with your daughter (in a respectful way) and asking for a manager. Perhaps it will work for her.
Best of luck.
“no ‘major resistance’ to prices”
Are they kidding? We haven’t eaten at Wendy’s in probably a year...because of OUR resistance to their prices. Maybe, in their mind, not eating there does not count as resistance to prices.
Bojangles fried chicken sandwich is very good too.
Don’t know if that’s around here
Now all restaurants are Taco Bell.
I would be considered a higher income person and I've definitely cut back on my fast-food dining. It's almost $30 for the two of us at any fast food place and over $30 at any casual dining place and well over $100 at any modestly upscale restaurant. I rarely go out by myself. It's usually at the behest of my wife. And even at that, it's not very often.
Different sauces, onions and pickles aren’t too tough. Buns take a lot of space though. And expire fast. That’s probably a bit of an expense. But it must be working for them.
